Sacha Baron Cohen Acquires Accidentes

I do like Sacha Baron Cohen, and thought Borat was absolute brilliance. I do have my misgivings about his Bruno project as I would sooner see him do something new instead of rehashing the same stuff that was in Borat with a different character. Its done.

Well it looks like he is doing just that. Cohen is producing Accidentes, and likely will star. The main character sounds right up his alley.

The protagonist will be a lawyer of Latin descent who transforms from contingency attorney to hero of the working class when he helps an immigrant win a judgment against his wealthy employer after a landscaping mishap. He also becomes the enemy of L.A.’s power elite.

I really hope we see some of the genius in his character comedy with this and bring a little heart into his over the top characters.

I love his style, but I wonder if sometimes he alienates a portion of the comedy fans by being so wild. Maybe if he reeled it in a little and compensated with a genuine feel good story then we could see a whole different side to the comedy of Cohen.

Of course I am just assuming it will be comedy with fellow Borat writer Peter Baynham on board, but maybe they will shock us to death and it will be a serious courtroom drama.

Yeah, I didn’t think so either.
