Red Cliff Set To Launch

John-Woo-1We some release dates for Woo’s Red Cliff to share with you today thanks to the professionals over at Variety:

Adapted from China’s classic novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” is over four hours long. For Asian territories, the movie is being split into two parts, with the first to be released on Thursday in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea. In Malaysia, it bows on July 17; Japan is aiming for November.

Auds outside Asia will get a single movie, expected to clock in at 2½ hours, coinciding with the release of the second part in Asia in January.

I am pissed that Asia will get the full glory of this epic in 2 segments and I will have to settle for half the film. With luck, I will be able to get my hands on the full four hour extravaganza on DVD. I am pumped to see this historical Woo epic and have very high hopes for this production.

Those of you that live in Asia, please give us your thoughts on the film after you have seen the first half. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and discussing it with you after I have had a chance to see it.

The thing is that he has been working on this movie for so long and his other projects have fell through, he should release it in it’s entirely. The Suppose time is 4 1/2 hours long. Same as the original Kill Bill concept.
