Those of you that are interested in getting a sneak peek at the pilot for J.J. Abrams new show Fringe will be able to do so Wednesday, July 23 at the San Diego Comic Con. We get the following announcement thanks to our friends at IESB:
6:00–7:30 and 7:30-9:00 Fringe Pilot Screenings—Comic-Con and Warner Bros. Television proudly present two exclusive premiere screenings of the pilot episode of Fringe, the highly anticipated new FOX series from J.J. Abrams (Lost), Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the team behind the upcoming Star Trek feature, Mission: Impossible 3 and Alias. When an international flight lands at Boston’s Logan Airport and the passengers and crew have all died grisly deaths, FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv, The Pacific) is called in to investigate. When the search nearly kills her partner, Special Agent John Scott (Mark Valley, Boston Legal), a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King), our generation’s Einstein. There’s only one catch: He’s been institutionalized for the last 20 years, and the only way to question him requires pulling his estranged son, Peter (Josh Jackson, Shutter), in to help. Under Special Agent Phillip Broyles (Lance Reddick, The Wire), our trio will discover that what happened on that fatal flight is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth. Fringe also stars Kirk Acevedo (Oz), Blair Brown (The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd) and Jasika Nicole (The Mastersons of Manhattan). From Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, Fringe premieres September 9 and airs Tuesdays at 9:00 PM on FOX. (Please note: we will clear the room between screenings. Seating is limited. Pick the screening time that works best for you!) Ballroom 20
There you have it folks, I don’t have much to say here – I am not a fan of television so I will not be following the show. However, if nothing is on deck Wednesday night, I may swing by and review the pilot for those of you that may have interest in the show.

Seen it already, it’s not that good. The most boring people on TV ever
I don’t get the hype over JJ Abrams. Some people make it seem like he’s Lucas or Spielberg but most of his projects range from good (Lost started off GREAT but then began getting sloppy in season 2 and it never recovered) to piss poor (Cloverfield, what a great premise but the execution SUCKED). On top of that, he’s not even that good of a director.
I agree with sound designer. I really feel JJ was overrated. Never go into Alias and Felicity started off well and really sucked after barely a season. Lost I never got off too and from what I saw really sucked especially in season 2 and then it was just really…shall i say it??? Lost.
Never bothered with MI III so cannot comment on that. Cloverfield was Ok not great…entertaining but nothing breakthrough…but he never directed that.
Wait and see on Trek. But have very low expectations.
Fringe looks like a X-Files rip. So might catch a few ep. but am not expecting much.
I think Lost and Cloverfield are great, but i have seen the pilot of this series, and although it’s not boring the show seems too similar to x-files. Instead of aliens you have edge science, and a background conspiracy involving some big company. I will watch the show but i think it will hard for it to surprise me.
“I am not a fan of television…”
Huh? Television is becoming as compelling as movies, if you ask me. I hope you give some of these TV shows a chance. I’ll start you off by suggesting “Dr. Who”. Of course, I am a sci-fi fan-a-tic.
Ive seen the first draft of the pilot ..but I hear they did reshoots for the middle part to make it cleaner and more exciting…. Im sure the will show the new revamped version.
Overall, I liked the original pilot, I think it will be a hit.
I saw the leaked pilot a few weeks ago and I was seriously blown away.
I’m an unabashed Abrams fan, I’ve really enjoyed everything he’s been involved in, (admittedly Lost season 2.5-3.5 were a little weak but it’s picked up remarkably since then), and this is no different it’s a mix between X-Files, Frankenstein and Heroes and looks to blow all of them out of the water.
It was absolutely captivating and I can’t wait to see more of it.

I prefer to spend my time slacking online, or doing other hobbies. I still enjoy some shows, but I no longer like to dedicate much time to watching it.
My statement wasn’t meant as a sleight against the shows, but rather my penchant for viewing it.
For those hating on Lost; at the end of every season there a big poll done among all tv critics and this year tv critics voted LOST the best show of the year http://www.tvweek.com/2008/07/06/CriticsPollBestWorstweb.pdf ,even beating shows like The Office and the final season of The Wire (which is quite an accomplishment since The Wire is one of the most critically acclaimed of the last decade). You may not like the show personally but please keep the comments saying that the show sucks to yourself. Lost is an epic television masterpiece, haters who say that Lost sucks are like one of those people who think that Wall-E sucks.
I case you are wondering we have a review of the pilot posted at our site…Thanks Movie Blog and love what you do.

“You may not like the show personally but please keep the comments saying that the show sucks to yourself.”
Ummmmm, why? Did it cure cancer or something? This is the section where we write down comments. If you can’t deal with it people hating Lost then leave.
“Lost is an epic television masterpiece, haters who say that Lost sucks are like one of those people who think that Wall-E sucks.”
Again, no. I wouldn’t agree Lost is a masterpiece. It is completely far from it because the show has some major flaws with the biggest flaw being inconsistency within entire seasons. Every season of Lost always begins great but dips down considerably in quality during the middle of the season only to pick up again in the season finale. Wall-E, on the other hand, is perfect from beginning to end with no lapses in quality.
The poll that you’ve posted is also during set dates so shows like Dexter (which is arguably the best crime show on TV right now) and Burn Notice (one of the most entertaining and most watched on cable) are not in the running.
A torrent of the pilot has been available for a while…. its easy to find. Its not a good show.. it will fail miserably. The only redeeming thing about it is the use of titles and text in the show… its pretty cool.. Kinda like what Fincher used in Panic Room.
I think this will rate a lot. I watched the whole episodes and its great! Watch Fringe online and you will see what I mean.
