Alba Set To Bump McGowan As Barbarella?

We get word today that McGowan has been removed from Barbarella and that Jessica Alba may get tapped to take her place. Thanks to movieslonline for the following news:
According to Cinemablend there is big news on the Barbarella front. Hot off hte heels of telling you the film was put on hold because the studio wanted a bigger name comes word that Jessica Alba is in talks to replace Rose McGowan as Barbarella.
The rumor started after Robert reportedly broke up with Rose, opening the door for a new female lead. I have to admit that Jessica Alba as Barbarella will definitely sell tickets!
The remake of the 1968 flick “Barbarella” starring Jane Fonda has been in the works for a while. The female lead has been rumored to be everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale. My first choice would be Kate Beckinsale since we know she looks great in leather and goodness knows you can never go wrong with a hot momma in a jungle outfit!
I think Jessica Alba is very attractive. If they put out a Jessica Alba real doll, I would have it in the shop the following week for repairs, because I would’ ve fucked the bolts out of it. The girl is absolutely delicious…..but she sucks as an actress and people are getting tired of seeing her in films. Not only does she lack act, but she can’t pull off “sexy” very well and you need a seductress of the highest order to play the space vixen known as Barbarella.
I thought McGowan was a great choice for the role and it’s a shame that her personal life has thrown a wrench into that possibility. I am stressing to think of who may be a good alternative. Rona Mitra is a new favorite of mine… maybe Scarlet Johanson or Amber Heard?

I have never been a fan of Jessica Alba’s work, although I think she is smokingly hot.
In all honesty do you know who I would like to see in the space boots? Everyone’s favourite Tic Tac Girl, Kate Kelton.

the perfect casting would be Scarlett Johansen – she best embodies the role – wink wink.
Alba has always been confused and uncomfortable with her label as a sex symbol, which confuses and irritates me. She’s willing to pose for pictures like that one above, but when she’s asked about being a sex symbol, she freaks out and claims that she wants to be a serious actress. Her never-ending hypocrisy annoys me to no ends. If you wanna be a hot piece of ass, fine, but fucking own up to it. People are finally beginning to see how completely untalented she is, and she’s already being phased out by another non-acting hottie in the form of Megan Fox. In three years Alba will be in the same position that Cameron Diaz is in now: old fucking news.
No no no no no.
When will the suits in Hollywood finally realize that Jessica Alba
a.) can’t fucking act to save her life
b.) simply can’t lead a movie.
Cast her as the hot girl who has 3-5 scenes in a film just to raise the babe-factor. I’m fine with that. But please for fuck’s sake, don’t give her any leading roles. She won’t deliver. May I remind you of THE EYE? LOVE GURU? GOOD LUCK, CHUCK? Need more proof?
Now you may say “Well, it’s a cheesy sci-fi flick, it’s not exactly Shakespeare is it?” That may be the case, but especially in those types of films, you need someone who has the comedic chops to make this charming and enjoyable.
Jane Fonda not only was beyond hot (way hotter than Alba ever was/will be), but she had the skills to make Barbarella into a character that you can’t help but love. Fonda won 2 Academy Awards later on, something Alba can only dream of. That woman looked wooden in FANTASTIC FOUR for fucks sake!
Her time is over, get someone with looks AND TALENT.

Nope. She lacks the wide-eyed innocence of Jane Fonda or the pouty-lipped sexuality of Angelina Jolie. She can’t act, and she won’t take her top off; she is simply a non-starter.

The only reason I would want to see Jessica Alba in this movie is if she decides it’s finally time to get naked. And I’d leave after that scene.
I have to say, I was all for Rose McGowan getting the role…but if she’s definitely out, Rhona Mitra would make me pretty happy. I loved Doomsday, mainly because of her.
I should point out that I haven’t yet seen the original Barbarella, although I plan to soon. My opinion might change once I actually know what I’m talking about.
to belabor the point…Jessica Alba is very pretty…but a very weak actress. Rose McGowan also has a much better look for the part… Naomi Watts would also work just fine.
