The Harvard Zombie Massacre

HarZOMBIES ATTACK HARVARD! We have an emergency announcement to pass along to you today from the professionals at Variety:

Warren Zide (“American Pie”) has decided to bring to life “The Harvard Zombie Massacre,” snapping up the comedy-horror spec by tyro scribes Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. Zide will produce through his Parallel Zide banner with Ryan Lewis exec producing. Shooting’s planned for early next year.

Story centers on a scenario in which Harvard is overrun by the undead and America’s most brilliant minds fend off America’s most brilliant zombies.

This is hilarious, zombies of taste go for the juiciest Harvard braiiiiiiins! I am actually quite curious to see how this film turns out, if its like American Pie with zombies… then no thank you. But if it’s a frat/zombie comedy/horror of decent quality, I could find myself being very entertained.

How cool would it be to go to school and see zombies on the grounds! I hope they are able to get a few faculty in the film as well. If Steven Pinker, author of How The Mind Works gets his brain eaten by zombies….that would be the feather in the cap.

There are way too many ZomCom’s already.

Typically, I find zombie movies funny (intentional or not), because they’re usually about a bunch of stupid people, doing stupid things. If the writers can actually pull off a story about what smart people would do in such a situation, I think it would be hilarious. However, like SCOVILLE stated, There are way too many zombie comedies out there. This one would have to be really good to really stand out.

Not really that stoked about ZomComs — Shaun of the Dead was great as a one shot comedic look at the genre, but I’m not really interested in seeing any further attempts.

However, speaking of zombie movies, I just recently finished the Max Brooks book. ‘World War Z’ and am excited that it’s being developed as a flick (especially as it’s apparently being written by J. Michael Straczynski). Done right, it’ll be an awesome movie!
