Sienna Miller Lands Female Lead In Nottingham
The svelte Sienna Miller has scored a role in Ridley Scott’s upcoming Robin Hood movie Nottingham. We get the saucy scoop from our friends at comingsoon:
Sienna Miller (upcoming G.I. Joe) has confirmed to BBC News that she will play Maid Marian in director Ridley Scott’s Nottingham, which Universal Pictures is targeting for a November 6, 2009 release. The 26-year-old is set to appear opposite Russell Crowe, who is playing the Sheriff of Nottingham in the film, written by Brian Helgeland.
She said: “It’s happening. I just found out. It’s the most exciting news in the world. It’s ridiculous. But there’s this looming actor’s strike, so it’s not 100% sure that it’s going to be made, but it’s looking pretty certain.” In Nottingham, a love triangle forms between the legendary do-gooder Robin Hood, his Maid Marian and the archer’s arch nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham. The Sheriff is expected to be a more noble lawman who will face off with a more shadier Robin Hood in the Sherwood Forest.
I hope this film focuses more on robbing from the rich and giving to the poor than a 3 way love triangle. Romance and swords seldom mix well.
I like the idea of a slightly shady Robin Hood, he is a criminal after all. He may have charitable leanings, but he’ s still a man that earns his living through thievery and lives in the trees like a hobo of old.
I am not thrilled that Sienna Miller is in G.I. Joe, but she may suit this film just fine. She looks like she was born to wear flowing gowns, and bejeweled crowns, so this role should suit her perfectly. Sienna looks like an elf and could pass for an elven princes. I doubt she will have a chance to rock the pointed ears in this film, but certainly hope that she will get to play an elf at some point in the future.
Can she act? I only know her as the chick Jude Law cheated on.
Hell yes! Sienna Miller would make an extremely HOT elf! Damn, now you’ve got me hoping she turns up in an elf movie…
Sorry Doug, but romance has always been a major element of the Robin Hood story, and every film version.
What I’m skeptical of is taking one of the the great underdogs-against-corrupt-power stories and turning it into a noble law maker fights evil criminal story. The great charm and appeal of this story (at least for me) has always been the message that determined and righteous individuals can fight back against corruption and tyranny and win. I hope they at least keep Prince John as a bad guy.
Sienna is a little hottie and yes she can act. She was in a movie noir about Andy Warhol and she did a fantastic job, I thought. As for this iteration of the man in tights, I’m left wondering WHY. Why the need for the same, regurgitated stories over and over again, from Hollywood? And I’m looking for a better answer than “money”.

I am not aware of her acting but I wish her good luck for the movie.But it is true Hooliwood repeats the same story.agin and again.
I think Sienna will make a good Maid Marion this is definitely better casting than with the GI Joe movie.
