In fact, the only remake of an Asian horror that I've seen that has been anywhere close to being a good film was The Ring, every single other one has sucked beyond belief. Why is this? The Ring made a hell of a lot of money, so everyone else jumped on the Asian remake bandwagon, and now we're seeing remakes being thrown out with very little care for the subject matter, their only reason for existance being to cash in on the successful business model of The Ring. And what have we here? Mirrors looks like it's just another pale imitation, with cheif hack Alexandre Aja at the helm! His film Switchblade Romance was nothing but sheer plagiarism, likewise his script for P2 is a shameless copy of the little known film Lower Level, and his version of The Hills Have Eyes was just garbage... Does the guy have an original bone in his body? No, I don't think I'll be looking forward to this...
