I'm not sure if its true, but i heard Robotech is going to be re-imagined and with some new mech designs. Well changes can be good but it also can be bad, but i'm more concern about the story than looks. It should be at least 70% original stuff and 30% changes at the most. Well thats just me.

First at all, I'm a big fan of Star Wars, on anime, I'm the most, the supreme, fan of robotech, I'm of the opinion of the original designs, please a pray to Gd if they do this movie don't make a mess with it, When a friend told me Transformers goes to Hollywood, it was the one of the happiest moment of my life, I liked the movie a lot, but megatron sure it was the meteor of Armageddon, when i see megatron, I think "It's going to transform in a meteor", I think Tobey has pay attention to robotech fans, and I hope they do the rigths things and do the robotech movie the greatest science movie of all times

Sadly, that isn't what the people behind the phrase "nuke the fridge" were getting at. So your attempt to use the non sequitur as an encompassing reference was incorrectly used as well.

Uh, ok Rodney, I guess I just have-to phone up my comrades and tell them that our mission to inject silly phrases into the pop culture via small, seemingly unnoticed blog entries has failed.
Simply put, by "nuke the fridge" I was inferring the likelihood of the very basic aspects story being "sold out" to such a level that it makes no sence in respect to the source material...just like Indiana Jones or Speed Racer.

Harmony Gold is quite involved with the creation of the Movie. Both studios want to make sure that they are not going to do something stupid that could ruin the venture for both. Tommy Yune has given high praise thus far for the involvement for the studio. Also, Robotech is doing quite well once again. Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles was in the Top Ten Anime best sellers for 2007. They are also hard at work on the sequel, Robotech: The Shadow Rising. They did well with the last movie and I look forward to the sequel and what they can do with the Live Action movie.

@Mr David Lister. First I have to gently mock you for using Nuke the Fridge. Not only is it a poor phrase that will not catch on, but you used it incorrectly.

The attempt to make nuke the fridge into pop culture phrase is to imply that something happens that removes the believability of a series.

And the number of comments means very little as to the interest of a topic. Just that people had something worth saying.

Ok, I have been waiting for this for a very long time. I have loved macross/robotech since I was a kid. But, I'm not sure anyone gives a shit about it..source material that is, what I loved about it has always been the humanity in the stories (the new generation story of dusty ares comes to mind). I'm just worried that they will nuke the fridge and basically turn this into something to capitalize off that shitty transformers movie. "LOOK OUR MOVIE IS JUST LIKE TRANSFORMERS, WE HAVE BIG ROBOTS" and that will be the only thing to do with the source material.
I think also that only six comments here says something.

Awesome news. He is an amazing screen writer and I can see him doing some amazing stuff with the Robotech material. I've wanted a Robotech movie for a long time now. To finaly see it coming together and starting to come together right puts a huge smile on my face. :)

I can see this movie working, it just better have some good actors, take place mostly in space, have epic space battles and have all the trademark technoligy from the original show. Oh, and the Macross better tansform into a huge fucking badass robot, or I will scream like a little boy with a broken heart. >_< Oh yes, and lots of great drama, which is one of the things that made the show so awesome back in the days.

I also love the series, but I just don't see how they are going to keep people interested. I mean half of the show is just maybe 3000 people stranded in a giant transforming ship who are randomly being attacked by giant discolored humanoid aliens. Ha, it's basically a TV drama.

Sorry Rodney, it always seems like I'm arguing with everything you write. Again sorry I don't mean to be rude [Insert awkward laugh]

I could deffinately see Maguire as Roy Fokker (pronounced Foe-kerr). A bit too old for Rick Hunter.
