All Hail Megatron

By John - June 18, 2008 - 13:08 America/Montreal

According to our friends over at IESB, there is a new comic story arc with The Transformers coming out that falls within the “what if” category of things. The story is being called “All Hail Megatron” (more than just a title, they are words to live by my friends. Those… and “Kneel before Zod”. But I digress).

The basic idea is what happens to earth if the Autobots aren’t around to defend us from the evil decepticons and their leader Megatron?

As for its appeal to new fans, well, all you need to concern yourself with, according to writer Shane McCarthy, are “some very simple things. There is an ancient race of giant robots that are embroiled in a very old civil war; there are two factions to this civil war, the Deceptions (bad guys) and the Autobots (good guys); this civil war is raging across the galaxy on many different fronts; the war has found its way to our home planet.” And now one of these factions is missing.

I love this idea and eagerly await it’s release. Join me my friends in welcoming our new galactic overlord. All Hail Megatron!

    Hey John,

The story is not really a “what if” since it part of the ongoing series by IDW, but it’s a definite awesome idea. I know you’re a big TF fan, so I recommend the IDW TradePaperbacks from the Transformers series (Infiltration/ Stormbringer/ Escalation/ Megatron Origin/ Devastation. It’s definite great read and makes you think “why didn’t they do this for the movie?!?”

Can’t wait to get All Hail Megatron

Kinda off topic but I noticed that in the new G.I. Joe comics Storm Shadow runs around without a mask I think its a safe bet they are basing the movie partly off of these from the pics we have seen.

The comics are really well written but I have doubts they can translate that into a decent movie.

It’s about time Megatron took over our planet!

Good-bye Human hello Lord Megatron of the Decepticon. I can’t wait I am going to get this book when it hitting comic stores on July 9. I am sure I will have review on my podcast. I know I am in love with the cover. It makes me think a lot of old school Soviet Union propaganda posters

I’m hooked on the poster alone. Mecha Hell (or Heaven?!), here we come.

I see Decepticon in-fighting and human technology increasing to fight of Megs. It will definitely be interesting to see how they take this direction, but in a robot movie, I highly doubt there’d be little fighting even without Autobots.

I’ve been following the development of this comic for a bit now. It seems intersting.
