Rob Corddry Lands Lead In Project A

Corddry-RWe get wind today that Rob Corddry has scored the lead in the upcoming comedy Project A. Thanks to the Hollywood Reporter for the hookup:

Rob Corddry has landed his first starring role with “Project A,” a New Line action comedy being produced by Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld via their Red Hour shingle. Corddry will star as the “A” in the venture, playing a man trained by the U.S. government as a Cold War experiment to become the world’s biggest jerk. The script is written by Etan Cohen, one of the writers of Stiller’s upcoming “Tropic Thunder.”

“I’m slowly working my way up the ladder, starting from high school drama class,” he said. “I am hoping this will break my cherry, as it were.” Only half-joking, he added, “I’ve never been higher than No. 3 on the call sheet.”

Rob was great in Harold & Kumar 2 and it’s no surprise to see him in the lead of this one. His scene with NPH was the best part of the series thus far, and it’s good to see his talent rewarded with work. If he nails this role, it should cement him a place in the rotation of funnymen that are used for Hollywood comedies.

I can see Corddry playing the world’s biggest jerk quite well, and I look forward to seeing this in the theatre.

As always, we will keep you abreast of the situation!

  1. Rob was real good in H&K 2.
    His last scene was halarious!

Playing a jerk, that’s really not a prob for him. Prob he will have is being typecast as a jerk.

  2. Sound Designer Dan says:

When I first read the headline I did a double take and said to myself: Are they making a remake of that classic 80s Jackie Chan movie?
