Lesson learned from Ironman: It doesn't matter how popular a comic book character is perceived to be before film production. If you make a great film with solid actors, a relevant story line, solid action, and a brilliant marketing campaign the audience will come. Most of the audience needed for these films doesn't read or care about comic books and care only about getting a fun entertaining film for their ticket price.

I think a thor movie would be great if you had somebody like Peter Jackson (lord of the rings) directing it.He's a great story teller and would really do justice to the film

I dunno guys - I was a hard core Avengers fan back in the day. I just saw the Iron Man movie and was blown away. While there were fantastical elements in the movie one of the strengths was the success in building the concept/illusion that the armor was real. I think whatever is done with Avengers will need to be carefully considered - once you mix the Iron Man concept as presented with pure fantasy elements like Thor there's a real danger of diminishing the illusion. I'd rather see an epic stand alone treatment ala Walt Simonson's Thor rather than having Thor as a bit player in a larger ensemble. I like Captain America for an Avenger's treatment because the super soldier concept is a very real concept that could be translated into the foundation laid in Iron Man and Hulk. Plus Cap was always the core of the Avengers. (I'm not too thrilled about Ant-man/giant man/yellowjacket.) The Vision could also be interesting (at least in one storyline he was rebuilt from the original human torch, which would make it easy to bring him forward in time with Cap if they decided to reach back to the original story. Stark could rebuild him and add some additional "interpretations", or they could stert from scratch.) Hawkeye and The Scarlet Witch revamped could also work.

They should film the Marvel 1602 book. That would be the greatest. Nick fury and Steven Strange star with support from thor, the xmen, capt america, peter parker, daredevil, Fantastic 4, etc, vs magneto, Count Doom, etc. All set in europe in the dark ages.
Any and every marvel fan must check that book out.

if they still push on through with an Ant-Man movie, i hope the character is a cross between the original Hank Pym one & the funny as allfuck rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. agent now trading as Irredeemable Ant-Man who was recently introduced in the Marvel Universe. that guy does not give a fuck about anyone but himself & does shit like constantly sneaking in & watching superheroines bathe or undress or saving women so he can get laid or has a pad to crash at. a lot of laughs to be mined in that.

i bet not long after this weekend we get the word that Mathew Vaughn's budget for Thor has been approved.

btw don't be suprised if Marvel secretly has a Nick Fury film slated for next year. you heard it here first.

Here's a thought:

Nick Fury.

I just got back from Iron Man, stayed for the cameo (and most everyone walked out during the credits)

Dr. Strange if De Toro is still interested after Hobbit;
I would like to see Namor or Thor..

Not so much as Ant-Man put rather the former Ant-Man. Pym.

Yup, it's time for Thor. It could be an absolutely incredible movie if done right. I also think (but i seem to be alone on this) that Sub Mariner could be one of the most visually stunning films ever made because it would be doing something we have never seen before; creating an underwater kingdom, populating it with real characters and making it look like the actors are actually underwater, breathing, walking and acting as if they were on land (and that's how it has to be, no having them live in bubbles like the Gungans in Phantom Menace).

Marvel, please do not worry about making sure the rest of the world is happy with the concept of seeing a film called Captain America and for the love of Crom, do not change the character so he has more international sensibilites; you know better than to do that.

When they brought G.I.Joe to the UK, they renamed it Action Force and i've been re-educating English people about it ever since:)
