Knights Templar Vs. The Vampires

Templar3By the glorious shawl of the blessed holy mother Mary! It appears that a knights templar film is in the works where they defend the holy cup of christ from Vampires! We get this crazy scoop from Variety via our friends at comingsoon:

Universal Pictures is developing The Knights Templar, picking up a spec script from Adam Torchia and Justin Stanley for Marc Platt and Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov to produce.

Variety says the film puts a horror spin on the famed organization of fighters from the Middle Ages, with the Knights Templar, fresh from the Crusades, forced to fend off an invading vampire army set on destroying the Holy Grail.

I can watch sword wielding dudes in armor fight vampires all day long. I am not sure why the Vampires would want to destroy the holy grail, but if they come up with an interesting enough reason, I will gladly buy it!

We need more fighting against vampires with swords, wooden spikes, mallets and spears. Gun warfare against vampires was awesome in Blade, but started to wear on me when other films picked up the idea. Blade used guns, but the preferred weapon was the sword and Wesley was always very innovative in the ways in which he dispatched the ever living. Sword warfare is often the best choice for violence and I am thrilled to see battle on cobblestone streets!

This one sounds like it could be cool, we will be sure to keep you posted on the updates as they are made available to us.

  1. Haha, I remembered a post you made back in late July and looked it up, heres what I wrote :

“I do alot of writing short stories and the like in my spare time, and the first I ever wrote happened to be a vampire story. Ive always thought it would make for a really cool story and who knows, i’ve only seen a couple vampire films so maybe its been done but I had the story set in the crusades with a secret sect of the knights templar hunting down and destroying the vampire infection as it arose in the middle east, and the religous crusades being used to hide the exsistance of the vampires.

Anyways the movie sounds ok but lately with how many of these movies have been turning out it’ll probably be cheesy as hell.”

    Coincidence? I think not :P

  2. This is a direct rip off of Dracula vs. King Arthur and the screenwriters should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously. In Dracula vs. King Arthur Dracula raises a vampire army to go after King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Arthur brings forth the Holy Grail to help defeat the menace. Sheez. Someone should speak up on this.

  3. Loved the computer game Vampire: The Masquerade : Redemption, which takes place in medieval times (and I believe the hero was a Knight Templar turned Vampire). Besides, it would be refreshing to see vampires and humans battling with swords rather than guns like in Blade and Underworld (yes, I know they had swords too).
