Daniel Day Lewis May Replace Javier Bardem In Nine

ShoesActor/Shoe Smith Daniel Day Lewis is in talks to replace Javier Bardem in Nine. We get the following scoop from the moviehole:

Daniel Day-Lewis is in talks to star in “Nine,” the musical Rob Marshall is directing for the Weinstein Co, says Variety.

Day-Lewis would play the role of Guido Contini, replacing Javier Bardem, who dropped out of a planned fall start, stating he was exhausted from work and awards season. The role is a famous film director who experiences personal and creative crisis while trying to balance all the women in his life.

I suppose if you have to replace an Oscar winning actor, another Oscar winner makes sense. Daniel Day Lewis has a black belt in acting. He kicks some ass, hides out for a few years, learns a trade (shoe smithing), comes back and just keeps kicking ass without a beat.

Khristopher Tapley first informed me of Daniel’s love of shoes, and we laughed much about this. We laughed out of joy, and hope that one day we would be able to obtain a pair of his shoes. That way when someone says “where did you get those white loafers” you could respond with “these here, are Day-Lewis dandies! Fuck you!”

So Daniel, if you are reading this – we want shoes.
