Candace Bergen has joined the cast of the marriage comedy Bride Wars. We get the scoop today from our friends at comingsoon:
Candice Bergen will co-star opposite Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway in the romantic comedy Bride Wars for Fox 2000 and New Regency, reports Variety. The story revolves around best friends (Hudson and Hathaway) who are pitted against each other when their wedding dates clash. They compete for venues, services and guests. Bergen will play Marion St. Claire, the queen of all wedding planners.
I am not a fan of marriage comedies. I usually find they incredibly lame and they never seem to be terribly funny. I do enjoy a good film about divorce however; the end of marriage is always funnier than the beginning.
Although I am not excited to see this film – I must admit that the cast is pretty solid. Anne Hathaway is on my current list of favorite actresses; and Kate Hudson is no slouch either. The elder Bergen rounds out the cast and it will be interesting to see these three talented thespians work off of one another.
I think we have had enough wedding comedies; the time for the wedding horror film is now. I want to see Werewolf Bridesmaid on the silver screen. Slowly people involved in the wedding get mutilated by the beast. The film climaxes at the outdoor reception when under the light of the full moon the bridesmaid transforms and butchers most everyone involved, before she is stopped by being stabbed with silver meat tongs. This is a film I could support.
Yeah it’s a chic flick…but man is it a creative one. Nothing all that cliche about two women fighting for the same needs in a very funny and unorthadox manner. It’s not as cheesy as expected either.
I hyped Bride Wars on Everhype.com and gave it 94% which I think is fairly accurate.
