HarrypotterWe will not have to wait for Harry Potter to hit an IMAX screen, November 21st will herald a same day launch. We get this glorious IMAX news thanks to our friends at comingsoon:

In an earnings call on Friday, March 14, IMAX Corporation confirmed that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince would get a simultaneous IMAX release when the movie hits theaters on November 21. “Our release of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is scheduled for November, and we expect that as with ‘Harry Potter 5,’ certain sections of the film such as the finale will be presented in IMAX 3D.

This is good news as far as I am concerned. I had the great privilege of seeing Beowulf on an IMAX screen and I was delighted with the experience. I will certainly try to see the upcoming Potter film on the IMAX screen, I have enjoyed the special effects in the series, and to see them bigger and louder is always better! I am not sure I like having portions of the film in 3-D and others not - I want to wear the glasses the entire time or not at all. Part of the enjoyment of 3-D is that you become immersed in the film and eventually forget the glasses are on. To put them on and take them of would be bothersome (I would think).

I saw the last harry potter with the 3-D glasses, it was not too bad when you put on and took off the glasses, I did not feel distracted..it was kind of cool how they did it, really good timing

  2. IMAX (3D or not) is a concept I can’t get enough of.

I might even see Speed Racer that way and bring a back of hallucinogenic mushrooms with me.

that would certainly be an experience! You would need a sober supervisor in case of flip outs

  4. The wizard battle in IMAX 3-D was SICK in the last one. I was ducking in my seat to avoid getting blasted. This is fantastic news!

  5. My friend just forced me before the 5th Harry Potter came out to sit and watch the first 4. I did not think I would like them, but turns out I think they are great movies. I would have loved to see one of them in an IMAX theatre. I have never seen a movie in an IMAX theatre before, but would think it would be a blast and bring the movie more to life. I look forward to it.
