Burn After Reading Upon Us In September

By Doug - March 4, 2008 - 16:00 America/Montreal

Coen
This film is among my most anticipated of the year and I am pumped that it’s within reach. We get news of the release date thanks to the mystical caves of yahoo:

Moviegoers won’t to have wait long to see the next film from Joel and Ethan Coen, the Oscar-winning brothers behind “No Country For Old Men.”

Their next project, the dark espionage comedy “Burn After Reading,” will be released September 12 via Focus Features, the studio said Monday. The cast includes George Clooney, John Malkovich, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand, Joel Coen’s wife.

Well this cast certainly can’t get more chock full of awesome can it? They even threw in Tilda Swinton the greatest protocol droid/actress ever to grace the silver screen. With hope, all of these heavy hitters will bring out droves of fans to support the Cohen brothers (who I consider to be among the greatest storytellers of our age).

The Cohen’s are great at dark comedy and the players they have on board are certainly able to deliver. I am not sure if this is the picture to do it, but in time, I certainly hope we get another Lebowski level comedy out of them. I could watch that movie twice a week till the day I die and have no complaints.

Clooney and Pitt have amazing camaraderie and to throw Malkovitch into the mix stirs up all sorts of questions. John Malovich + Dark Comedy + Coen Bros = solid fucking gold as far as I am concerned!

This one is still a few months away, but September is on the horizon and I certainly consider this film a back to school must see.

Tilda Swinton looks like an albino velociraptor.

Anyone interested in reading the screenplay…let me know.

The “greatest storytellers of our time”, yet you can’t seem to spell their last name correctly. That’s a good one. I’m a huge fan of Hitchkok, Speelburg, Linch, Gillium, Scorsazy, and Fyncher.

finishdish: LOL Well, let’s face it: Jon, Dug, et al value enthusiasm over spelling, grammar and all that other journalistic twaddle. And really, why get all caught up in the details when there’s another beer to open…?

Pass the bottle opener, probitionate. Big fan of the Coens, and couldn’t let that slide.

Send me an email at probitionate@gmail.com and I’ll send you the script.

  7. So cute. It will be the DVD I’d like to have on my bookshelf:)
