Will Stephen Chow play Kato in Green Hornet?

ComingSoon was talking to Stephen Chow about Seth Rogan considering him for the role of Kato in his version of the Green Hornet and Chow was flattered:

He knew who we were talking about when we said that Rogen played the police officer in Superbad. He seemed genuinely pleased that Rogen might think of him, though he hasn’t been approached, thinking that maybe Rogen doesn’t have his contact info.

Now as much of a superhero fan and comic collector as I am, this even predates my generation.

This Green Hornet is a spinoff of the 60s Batman TV Series, and a comic book of its own time however its origins stem back as far as a radio serial in the 30s which grew to movie short serials in the 40s.

In the 60s TV series the role of Kato was played by the Legendary Bruce Lee. Is it any wonder that Stephen Chow (a self professed Bruce Lee fan and martial arts addict) would want to fill the shoes once worn by his idol?

The Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle star is eager to talk to Rogen, and I hope that he does.

Stephen is funny and does ape Bruce Lee’s mannerisms and fighting style well in Kung Fu Hustle but he is no martial artist. He’s also 45 years old but I guess he could still pull it off.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing Colin Chou (from the matrix sequels and upcoming Jet Li/Jackie Chan collaboration The Forbidden Kingdom).

SEND THE WORD ALL OVER THE NET!
    What a perfect cast!
and Chow is even interested on the role!
Thats is exactly why its not going to happen!
Hollywood producers has a special tallent to choose the wrong cast for almost everthing,so expect to see some corean or american oriental actor whitout any marcial art knowledge doing the character.
    I hope im wrong!
