Walter Skinner Confirmed For X-Files 2

By Doug - February 21, 2008 - 12:52 America/Montreal

Mitch-Pileggi09It looks like Scully and Mulder are stuck with their boss for the next installment of X-Files. We get the following message of confirmation from our friends at the moviehole:

Mitch Pileggi is confirmed to be reprising his role as everyone’s favourite superior, Walter Skinner.

Mitch Pileggi looks like a boss, and I certainly wouldn’t want him yelling at me asking where my reports are. He has a stern firm but fair look about him that demands hard work and results. All I can promise is no fires and I am cool to get coffee.

It’s nice to see the gang back together again, whenever possible I think it is best to keep an ensemble cast together as long as you can. Familiarity lends itself to easier teamwork and a result the performances of all involved are greatly strengthened. When you watch a television series over the course of a few years, you really start to see the people gel together and you get some amazing shows. I am glad Pileggi is back.

X-Files 2 will be in theaters July 25, 2008.

I loved him in the Stargate series as well.

He’s looking a bit older those these days. Doesnt look quite the same but thats cool.

I just read on imdb that this is going to be seperated from the series and wont continue the alien conspiracy story it will be like a freak of the week standalone episode. Man that sucks I was hoping for some closure

I think that’s good news. I’m SO SICK of the alien plot in X-Files. It was ok at first when it was a nice treat once in awhile, but when it became the prominent plot for EVERY episode of EVERY season in the later years, that’s when I stopped watching. Apart from the final episode, I may have tuned in for 3 or 4 episodes total, for the last few seasons together.

If this movie was again about the aliens, I would almost certainly pass it up and just watch it on DVD in the far future when I’m bored. As it is, I’m actually excited for it.

What about the Cigarette Smoking Man?

  5. Karl Hungus says:

The Cancer Man (which was always a far cooler title than cigarette smoking man) died, so I don’t think we’ll see him back.
