he ‘Pirates of the Carribbean’ director, Gore Verbinski has set his eyes on something he has never done before-a cartoon feature. However, this won’t be a family cartoon movie.

Yahoo!News gives us these details:

The director of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, Gore Verbinski, will shoot his first animated feature, a $100 million project targeted for a 2010 release. The action-adventure film is based on an undisclosed idea developed by Verbinski’s Blind Wink Prods. and producer John B. Carls. Screenwriter John Logan (“Sweeney Todd”) is in talks to pen the film with sequels in mind.

So this high budgeted project doesn’t sound like any ordinary cartoon at all. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of Verinski’s ‘Pirates of the Carribbean’ sequels, I was a huge fan of ‘The Mexican’ and ‘The Ring.’ Considering the team behind this project, I think this cartoon will probably be more geared towards adults, and I love that idea. I can’t wait to hear more about this project, but it’s got to be an a cool idea considering they already how sequels in mind.

So are you curious to see Gore Verbinski tackle an animated feature?

Just don’t let him make part 2 and part 3 of these cartoons back to back. History has told us this.
