First 5 Pages Of Hellboy 2 Comic Adaptation Available Online

Hb2For those of you that are interested in a sneak peak of The Golden Army comic book adaptation, DC has loosed the first 5 pages. Thanks to reelcomix for the heads up:

DC Comics is releasing a 16 page comic in conjunction with the upcoming release of Hellboy 2 and you can checkout the First 5 Pages Online. I have to confess the comic does look awesome. That is what happens when you involve such great talent in a project though. Not your typical knock-off comic.

In the sequel, after an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it’s up to the planet’s toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it’s time to call in Hellboy (Ron Perlman).

Please read the 5 page mini comic, it seems to set up the back story to the film and it is quite engrossing. Elves, Ogres, Goblins waging war with each other is as good a way as any to start a myth, and I look forward to learning more about the origins when the film is loosed upon us.

I had no idea that the Golden Army was a forged legion from the hands of goblin blacksmiths! In the name of the goatlord I count this to be glorious news and my anticipation for this film continues to grow within me. I think this film is going to kick some serious ass and I am excited about this series launching into what I hope to be a decade worth of films. HB:2 is scheduled for release July 11, 2008 and it can’t come soon enough.

  1. Not sure on the DC comic comments. Hellboy is a property on Dark Horse comics not DC. Even though Mike Mignola created and owns Hellboy, the comic book rights for film, animation and any other media has been Dark Horse.

Actually after jumping to the link, reelcomix idetifies Dark Horse as the publisher in the first line as well.

In fact here is the link to the preview at Dark Horse.
