DeathStroke and Batman: the Dark Knight

More toys revealed at ToyFair 08 continue to make people speculate about the summer blockbusters. Apparently in the Batman Dark Knight display, an approved costume for Deathstroke was included. So does this mean we might see Deathstroke in The Dark Knight?
IESB.net says:
Does this mean that Deathstroke will make it into the film? The answer is a definite maybe. There’s a history in the action figure world of expanding movie-based lines to feature characters from outside the film.
I am glad IESB continues to report and remind people that there was a Robin figure in the Batman Returns toyline as well. This Deathstroke design was apparently signed off by Nolan causing more people to jump to conclusions, but he likely had to sign off on the look of all the images to maintain a certain look and feel to match his version of the films.
I think this is just fun toy marketing and nothing else. Perhaps the character will make some sort of cameo mention in the movie as a “pre Deathstroke” civilian. This just plays to the comic book fans and gets people excited, and doesn’t change the experience at all for those who are only familiar with the movies.
May I remind you that Toyfair also revealed a metalic red and Gold Sports car toy in which IronMan can drive.
Its just a toy. They like to sell toys.

Ive never even heard of “Deathstroke”. I doubt hes in the movie, unless this character has an alter-ego that turns out to be one of the thugs in the movie, link a wink-wink, nudge-nudge to the fans of the character. Kind of like with Doc Conners in Spiderman, but on a smaller scale.

Y’know, Rodney, I’m glad you brung this up. The Two-Face doll was already shown, but only his alter ego, Harvey Dent, will appear in ‘Knght’ (although TF might show up in the last few minutes to tease an audience) and Kevin C’s comment got me thinking.
I don’t think Deathstroke is in the film…but there IS a minor bad guy called ‘Gator’. I would flip if that wasn’t codename for Killer Croc…which if so (its doubtful, but bear with me) could get a jump on a possible Spider-Man 4, featuring a live action bad guy with a reptillian connection….whicj, since I’m on the subject:
Back to Deathstroke. (Code name: Gamble haha!) …the character shares much likeness to that of Marvel’s Deadpool. What character was recently announcd to partake in the Wolverine film again? Note: I was hoping Bats would face Deadshot, but that hope has faded
Hmmmm….
But I have ANOTHER theory. I think this angle makes more sense, actually. Tell me what you think. Deathstroke doesn’t appear in The Dark Knight. He appears in the animated “in between film” The Gotham Knight.
Whatcha think?

dude…
your geekness and knowledge is examplenary and inspiring.
i solute you.
@ rodney dude
you know- when spiderman 3 came out they came out with a bunch of scorpio, rihno, and other character toys WITH THE SOIDERMAN 3 thing on it
and when transformers came out- they had like a bunch of transformers that werent in the movie in toy stores that WERENT in the movie and that had the movies logo in it
so im not saying he wont be in it or that he will- but like you sayd- they just like to sell toys..as long as they get money and kids beg their parents for the toys- they will sell it
Anyone who wants to see how fucking badass Deathstroke is needs to read Identity Crisis where to begin with he mops the floor with about 7 JLA members.
Yeah, Jamie has hit the nail on the head. Toy companies like to release as many toys as they can with licenses they pay millions for. Chuck the movie logo on something and it’s more likely to sell.
The trend a few years back was to release the main character (in this case Bats) in as many stupid, colorful and varied outfits as possible. The trend more recently has been to keep doing this… but also to add in as many characters as possible “inspired” by the movie.
Possibly Deathstroke and this design for the character will show up in a Video game or animated film relating to TDK. That’s where most of the non-movie Spiderman 3 figure characters showed up, in the video game.
It’s also worth noting that Deathstroke/Slade was featured promintently as Slade in the ultrapopular Batman TAS spinoff Teen Titans Go, and will play a lead role in an upcoming TT direct to video movie based on his most famous storyline that should be coming out sometime when this movie is out in theatres or on DVD. Mattel’s also making DCSuperheroes version of Deathstroke for another line.
