Elton John is one of the best musicians alive. I’m not his number one fan, but calling the guy “nothing really special” is downright insane.

You know, this is a damn shame. Heaven forbid it, but what if Spielberg were to pass on before ’09, and he misses the chance to accept his award because some people can’t sit down in a room and hammer down a damn deal? I’m beyond done with this stupid strike, and the writers have lost all sympathy from me. Fuck them.

I would agree with you John only if I was 12 years old or under. Spielberg is a mainstream childish director with little or no technique. He is really a good director for season blockbusters and movies with an audience of an avarage age of 12. John I bet you are a fun of Indiana Jones.. you have all the dolls (I mean action figures) and the hat ?

Amistad was great. Same with Empire of the Sun (I’d be hard pressed to choose between the two).

But you’re right, John. It does no good by giving Spielberg a lifetime achievement by reading his name off a card and moving on. For anyone getting an award like this. They deserve to be celebrated and thanked appropriately for their contributions not only to the industry, but also to culture in general.
