2008 Razzie Nominations

It’s Razzie Time! The 2008 Razzies have released their list of nominees for this year’s awards. The Razzies are handed out each year on the day before the Oscars are announced. The awards “honor” the WORST films of the year. My favorite Razzie moment is still when Halle Berry showed up in person to accept her award for Worst Actress (Catwoman). She showed a lot of class and that she had a great sense of humor too.

  1. Could Eddie Murphy the first person ever to be nominated for Worst Actor, Worst Supporting Actor, Worst Supporting Actress AND as both halfs in Worst Onscreen Couple? And all for one movie as well?

If only he’d played the female lead as well, he could have sown up all the acting categories in one swoop.

  2. Epic movie cannot be nominated because it came out in 2008. but yeah all of these movies suck so bad. does anyone know what time the Razzies come on? Eastern time?

  3. I am glad to see the Jessica sisters up there. They might be today’s version of the Corey brothers. Neither Jessica has been in a good movie that I have seen. They are better to look at than the Corey’s, but man, the movies they end up in are just trash.

  4. COME ON! Orlando Bloom does NOT deserve a Razzie nomination for POTC: At World’s End. He may not have been amazing, but he does not deserve to ranked with Norbit and Daddy Day Camp. Grow up!

  5. WEll, Nic Cage (or Jessica Biel) should not be singled out for ‘Next’. That wasn’t a bad film. Cage was alright in ‘Ghost Rider’ as well…but that pic sucked thanks to Wes Bentley trying to look scary.

As far as ‘Captivity’ goes- Roland Joffe was re-edited to lure the “Saw” and “Hostel” like crowd. I would give him the Razzie though…if nothing else, just to give him a kick in the pants to remind him of his films from the 80’s, specifically The Killing Fields,

Worst film sequel/horror for me is AvP2.

Worst film overall is I Know Who Killed Me, but Epic Movie should have been one of the choices.

    Where is “Rise The Hunter?”

Ice Cube in Daddy Cay Camp?

Jessica Alba w/ The Silver Surfer?

  6. I’m just glad to see Nicolas Cage on this list. He surprised me in Lord Of War because the last time he channelled his acting skills was Leaving Las Vegas ten years prior. He’s buy far the most overrated actor of our generation. Good job Razzle.

  7. epic movie should win every category its nominated for…..by far the worst movie of 2007…..

spiderman 3 was actually pretty good, not as good as the last 2 but it wasnt bad……it still boogles my mind how im seeing spiderman 3 on worse of 07 lists but not epic movie….just because some of u comic geeks were a lil disappointed doesnt mean it was the worst of 07…..epic movie was by far 10 times worse

  8. Just looking at this list makes me weep. Did all these terrible movies really come out in just 2007?

    Worst Picture
    Norbit

    Worst Actor
Eddie Murphy (as Norbit) — Norbit

    Worst Actress
Lindsay Lohan (as Aubrey) — I Know Who Killed Me
Lindsay Lohan (as Dakota) — I Know Who Killed Me

    Worst Supporting Actor
Orlando Bloom — Pirates of the Carob-bean: At Wit’s End — aka Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

    Worst Supporting Actress
    Carmen Electra — Epic Movie

    Worst Screen Couple
Lindsay Lohan & Lindsay Lohan — I Know Who Killed Me

    Worst Remake or Rip-Off
Epic Movie — “Of every movie it rips off.”

    Worst Prequel or Sequel
    Hostel: Part II

    Worst Director
Fred Savage — Daddy Day Camp

    Worst Screenplay
Norbit — Eddie Murphy, Charles Murphy, Jay Sherick, and David Ronn

Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie — New Category
    Hostel: Part II

  9. Ya, Epic Movie should just get a Razzie in every category. But the only movie on that list I’ve seen is AvPR. Which probably deserves the worst sequel award because…wow…I couldn’t believe how much it sucked. It was far worse than the first one and that is an accomplishment in suck if I’ve ever seen one.

  10. Something tells me Lindsay Lohan is going to take the most Razzie awards…..lol

They nominated her twice for worst actress in I know who killed me and the nomination for worst couple made me chuckle….BRUTAL!

  11. I love the spirit of the Razzies. So many worst of lists will include a critical darling that the critic involved in the list hated becasue they were in a bad mood that day just to prove their independent critic cred or how cool they are (like some lists including films like “Lars and the Real Girl”). You guys got it right with your list and the Razzies really hit a home run here – these are all movies so bad that any reasonable film goer could see going in that they would suck balls. They were all clearly films to be avoided in 2007. The only two I sat through were Pirates 3 (can someone please replace the 3+ hours they stole from my life) and National Treasure (the things you do to please your family when you go home for xmas…)
