Vaughn And Favreau Back Together In Four Christmases

FavvauIt appears that the dynamic duo of Vaughn and Favreau will be joining a couple of country western songsmiths in an upcoming Christmas movie. We get wind of this peculiar news thanks to our friends at comingsoon:

Jon Favreau and country music stars Tim McGraw and Dwight Yoakam are joining Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn in New Line Cinema’s romantic comedy Four Christmases. Favreau and McGraw will play Dallas and Denver, respectively, two bullying siblings who delight in tormenting their brother, Brad (Vaughn), during the holidays.

Yoakam will play Pastor Phil, the overly zealous partner of Brad’s new wife Kate’s (Witherspoon) mother (Mary Steenburgen). He persuades the young couple to act in his church’s nativity play, one of many chaotic events during their visits to different sets of parents.

Dwight Yoakam as a Pastor is just downright hilarious. He was wicked in Crank and it will be interesting to see him play a man of the cloth in this Yuletide picture. I am not certain why music celebrities venture forth to the movie business, but until Steven Seagal stops singing the blues, actors will have no case against them.

Favreau and Vaughn “broke out” together and it’s exciting to see them working together again. The chemistry the two men have between them is outstanding, and should be milked as much as possible. Having Favreau and Tim McGraw as brothers that pick on Vaughn should make for some hilarious ribbing.

I must admit, the lot of them around a manger trying to make a christmas play as Yoakam directs, should be a treat to watch. Witherspoon is a fan favorite, and will round out the cast nicely. Being recently divorced from a country and western singer she should have adequate knowledge of what a honkey tonk christmas entails. It is nice to see that the marriage was not a complete waste after all! Maybe it wasn’t a real marriage, perhaps she was just prepping for the role.

Expect this film for Christmas 2008.
