Larry the Cable Guy is a household name. Love him or hate him, you know who he is, and “Get er’ done” is as popular a catch-phrase as “shwing” was when Wayne’s World was on the air. I am happy for his success, and although his style of comedy is not my cup of tea, he is getting people out to clubs for recreation; and that is what the ha ha game is all about. We learn of his new film project thanks to our brothers and sisters at movieweb:
Charles Carner wrote and is directing the film; the story centers on a small-town sheriff who witnesses what he believes is a kidnapping and rushes to rescue a woman. The Hollywood Reporter adds the kidnappers turn out to be FBI agents assigned to protect her and deliver her to a big Enron-type corruption trial in Chicago but are later found to be on the take and are villains who are bent on killing her.
Larry has been a health inspector and now a cop, call me curious but why has no one penned a script where he is … a cable guy? It seems to me that a movie where he is a cable guy would probably be the best place to start, and would certainly have more opportunities for hilarity than the occupation of sheriff. But what do I know – I don’t even have a catch phrase.

I just love how he used to be a regular stand-up comedian in the 80’s, but resorted to this awful character after being stuck in a rut.
