Ha, after further research, "Descent" is from 2005, so no wonder, I was misled by other commenters, why am I surprised? Having said that, I'm glad [rec] was on there, should have been Number 1.

I'm only resurrecting this because I'm going backwards through the last few years watching movies from people's "best" lists. I find the comments interesting in hindsight. From the perspective of 2012 I think "The Descent" is almost universally recognized as a great horror movie. I don't hear anybody talking about "Hostel 2" or most of these other films as great anything. Except "Grindhouse" of course. (Yes, that IS what the double feature is called, some people seem to have trouble with new concepts)

p.s. "Hatchet" is a piece of crap.

Actually, while not being particularly horrific, 'I am Legend' falls safely within the horror genre.

now THAT is all.

And that you choose to ignore these two gums as one presentation called Grindhouse is your problem. Fact remains that these two feature films ( and fake trailers) are together called Grindhouse irregardless of how you pretend they are

I Thought Grindhouse was a fun experience, the first half shoulda been the second IMO, in other words Tarantino's film shoulda went 1st. Then the Zombie stuff.

"Grindhouse" 1 movie/2 parts

just saying

I cant see how this is ONE movie no matter how i look at it, its called a double feature, it has two seperate stories, tarantino worked on one and robert worked on the other, they are both full length, you can buy them seperately with the "grindhouse presents" up top. I just read an interview with tarantino talking about the TWO films, (cant tell you how many times he says TWO) being very different..oh and he also mentions that you can see the grindhouse double feature in theatres or you could wait for the seperate films on dvd..funny he seems to think they made two different movies. look...im wasting too much time on here talking about a double feature that i thought was juvenile at best anyway..so heres the thing.. I believe you are right to call the double dvd grindhouse, you are right to call it that. after doing some research i found this to be true. But dont tell me that just cause a double feature event dubbed grindhouse is the name of one movie, if that was the case, it wouldnt be called a double feature to begin with.

And all the segments in the Heavy Metal film had their own titles, and all the individual stories in The Twilight Zone Movie had their own titles too.

But your opinion that the descriptive cannot also be the title is your issue here.

Unfortunately you are battling your opinion over what SHOULD have happened with the title with what actually DID happen with the title.

It was presented in theaters (one ticket, both movies) as Grindhouse, the collected experience on Bluray is called Grindhouse. And its listed on IMDB as Grindhouse. (Which is described as "Two full length feature horror movies written by Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez put together as a two film feature. Including fake movie trailers in between both movies.")

FACT: The movies are presented as one film called GRINDHOUSE.

Myth: You dont think they should have been called that.

You can argue your wishes all day long about what SHOULD have happened but that is irrelevant because it didnt happen that way.

The MOVIE is called Grindhouse. Even if you dont want it to be.

how is one title the title for two movies, you dont make any sense. You just said that the grindhouse feature they made consisted of TWO movies didnt you??? Those two movies have their own names right??? The dvd only says Grindhouse alone when you buy it as the double, if you buy them seperate it says Grindhouse PRESENTS..than the name of the movie. the only thing your right about is them dubbing the double feature or "experience" as GRINDHOUSE, not the name of the movie cause there are two. Its simple math really, Grindhouse presents:Death Proof..thats 1, Grindhouse presents:Planet terror...thats 2..what dont you get, its not the name of a movie, even if they did name the double dvd grindhouse

And yet it is still CALLED Grindhouse.

You can keep repeating that the title isn't Grindhouse because you insist it refers to a style of presentation, but these two films were presented as ONE PRODUCT and that product was titled Groundhouse.

The horror movie HOUSE is its title despite the fact that there are things in this world called HOUSE that are not a movie. You need to get out of your narrow view and accept that Tarantino/Rodriguez made a joint project together called GRINDHOUSE - even though there is such a thing as a grindhouse style presentation - it is still the title of this movie (which is made up of two movies and some trailers)

well i had posted another response before but i guess it got deleted for language maybe?
the response sounded something like this:
whether or not tarantino/rodriguez did in fact try to market this as one thing entitled Grindhouse, does not make it ONE movie, it is TWO movies. In the 70s double feature B horror flicks were "Grinded Out" so fast, they decided to call the films "grindhouse" double features. I see you posted the double feature for the new dvd, which i see they did indeed dub "Grindhouse", but that is still not the name of the movie, the movies have there own names, and you could purchase these both seperately. If you were to look at the cover of "Death proof" you would see a big ole Grindhouse P-R-E-S-E-N-T-S on the top of the dvd, not just Grindhouse.. FOR THE LAST TIME GRINDHOUSE IS THE NAME FOR A DOUBLE FEATURE-NOT THE NAME OF A SINGLE MOVIE.
