(John) I understand what you mean when you say the music is forgettable; i thought the exact same thing when watching it. by the end of the movie, i forgot what the first song was. i realize tthat the musc is "powerful" (to those of you that are sensitive) but my friends and i are telling you from a teenagers point of view. Frankly, we dont care about the music. sure it sounds pretty, but it doesnt grab my attention.. In fact, it bored one of my friends to sleep.. it is monotonous, boring and hard to follow.. actually its funny (Christine) that you bring West Side Story into the mix because I LOVE West Side Story. My whole family does and i have gotten many friends into musicals because they know I like it so well. didnt you think that the song "johanna" from Sweeney Todd sounded a LOT like "Maria" from West Side Story?? I noticed it from the beginning.. what a rip As for Helena Bonham Carter.. i think it was just another mediocre performance by a mediocre actor.. flat And lastly, someone should have directed common sense into this film. 1. blood is not orange 2. you dont immediately just drop dead when you get your throat slashed.. give time to bleed to death jeez 3. the blood splatters, flour on the table, ect. changed from one screen shot to the next.. didnt they notice the little things?? because these are the things kids notice RECAP!! we dont read deeply into the lyrics, we just want a catchy tune (which I didnt find in this movie) Cheap Special effects (i.e. orange blood) Helena Bonham Carter was neither bad nor good.. just blah okay,
