Enron Movie

EnronIt looks like Leo is calling out the man and throwing hell upon him. The Enron debacle could be the greatest corporate scandal of my lifetime and it is important for this story to be told. We get news about the upcoming picture from our friends at moviesonline:

Dicaprio is set to start in a new movie about Enron. I take issue with the movie since it sounds like it is not going to be true to the actual story where a reporter broke the story after not being able to make the plus columns equal the minus columns.

Warner Brothers has begun production on the film which Dicaprio will star as an employee who exposes the greed and fradulent accounting of the company.

Di Caprio bought my allegiance with his outstanding performance in Catch Me If You Can. I am usually always pleased to see him attached to a project, and this is no exception. In recent years The Leo has been getting more political as he chums around with Al Gore; this film seems to fit like a glove with where he is at in life.

White collar crime is crime that hurts more than any other, so far as I can see. When pensions are taken away from people that have sacrificed much of their lives for mundane jobs, the only fitting punishment is crucifixion for the masterminds behind the swindle. (Literal not metaphoric crucifixion.) I have no feelings of compassion for those that exploit people in any way, if the employees wanted to eat their bosses – I would buy BBQ sauce. I am glad this modern tragedy is getting the attention it deserves and hopefully public awareness will prevent similar instances in the future.

I think i can see the theme song in my head.

    Crashing through the sky,
    comes a fearful cry.
    ENRON (Enrooooooooooooon),
    ENRON (Enrooooooooooooon).
    Army of the night,
    evil taking flight.
    ENRON (Enrooooooooooooon),
    ENRON (Enrooooooooooooon).
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide,
    panice spreading far and wide,
    who can turn the tide?
    G.I.JOOOOOOOOOOOE….

No? Oh alright then;) But just to get sidetracked, wouldn’t it be awesome if Cobra’s origins were a giant corporation that was a piss take of Enron?

I thought Jim Carrey did this movie?

    Meh. Boring.

  3. Why in God’s name?

What’s next, The Fall Of Phar-Mor?

Watch ‘Enron: The smartest guys in the room’ it’s a corker doco. I don’t think it needs the hollywood treatment.

  5. GODFATHER says:

Attention it deserves? Doug, I think you’ve lost it! This spectacle has been done in the movies, and hasn’t been headline news for several years now. The corporate greed that drove these people to do what they did, still lives and breathes in everything that we hold dear in our capitalist society.

I agree with Tr0n. The documentary as I noted is a fantastic film that everyone should watch. Its truly a scary documentary about corporate power. The parts about them deliberately killing power to Florida forcing the governor to threaten to send the national guard into enrons plants was insane!

Leo could do a much better movie, one we’re an extremely unpopular executive is railroaded into prison by a cheating and conniving bunch of prosecutors. It’s all there in the record if anyone cared to look–a sham of a jury selection process, witnesses intimidated by the government, prosecution’s witnesses were coping a plea singing to save their own skin, the star witness, an admitted crook, changing his story in mid stream to get help get his sentence down from ten years to six, the government destroying important evidence… If it was anybody but Skilling, we’d be screaming for justice. Leo, call the movie “Scapegoat”
