Why on earth would Chow get himself into this stupidity!?
He's surely going to be worse off now than he was in POTC3, and worse now it would seem like everybody's boycotting him

Kaneda979 - The thing that's frustrating for me about the live action Dragonball Z movie is that it seems to have kinda come out of nowhere, while the other films (Eva, Akira, etc.) have been in pre-production for years but haven't even been greenlit!

I know Dragonball Z has a huge following. It was lucky to have been part of the 'anime boom' (along with Pokemon) in the mid-1990s. I'm sure that 20th Century Fox sees that DBZ is has quite a bit of commercial viability (i.e. it will make them some cash). My hope is that after it makes some money (along with Speed Racer), we'll finally see the other projects also get made. Both Neon Genesis Evangelion and Akira have been in pre-production for what seems like forever.

EVA: Even though Peter Jackson's WETA was working on designs for EVA, production halted over two years ago.

AKIRA: Four years ago, director Stephen Norrington was gonna do Akira but that fell through.

BATTLE ANGEL: 'Terminator' director James Cameron was gonna do Battle Angel, but that was several years ago and I doubt he'll ever actually make it, since he's averaging one movie ever 10 years or so these days! ^_^

I think Japan should take back the rights to the live action versions of all those properties and do them the right way. Casshern was a good start.

Chow Yun Fat is music to my ears. He was so mis used in Pirate's 3 it was just saddening. I just hope they keep Master Roshi's memorable and likable personality traits intact that made him such a great character.

To David:

The Eva and Akira movies are already both in the works. Google them both for more info. Although theres not much news yet on both, theres some fantastic concept art for the Eva movie out there, among other stuff.

Theres also a Ghost in the Shell movie under way, as well as Battle Angel.

Yes Dragon Ball is over rated, it's still a great place to start for Hollywood to dive into live action movie adaptations of classic anime.

Dragon Ball is a simple, but uniq tale, filled with lots of insane action and a good mix of all kinds of characters. It also has a huge fan base and should make lots of money. Which in turn will help jump start an anime based movie craze. Kind of like like what the first X-Men movie did for comic book films, Blade as well.

It's a perfect start before they get into the more complex stuff. Lets just hope it turns out to be a good start.

And about Gundam, the best of Gundam is in a league of it's own compared to DBZ in terms of complex story telling and best use of sci-fi action. Check out Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.

Chow Yun Fat? Gosh, I'm still disappointed that out of all the great anime that deserves the live-action treatment (cough**akira**cough**evangelion**cough), Fox decided to go with DBZ, the show that's Number One at the top of my list for 'least favorite and overrated' anime series of all time. Number Two would be 'any & all Gundam series'.

I loved DB and DBZ while I was growing up, but correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember actually seeing any real martial arts in the shows. All I saw were a group of people who ran or flew and threw kicks and punches really fast, I couldn't really recognize any unique styles at all.

If they want to do a live action DBZ movie, I hope they do it with a style similar to the Volcano High movie, it has a very Dragonball kinda feel to it.
