Chaos DVD Release

Wesley00It looks like a heist film starring the immortal Wesley Snipes and Jason Statham will be hitting the shelves Feb 19th. We get the scoop from our fiends at moviesonline:

LionsGate has sent us the specs for a new flick starring Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes called CHAOS which will hit dvd Feb 19th. Jason Statham (Crank), Ryan Phillippe (Breach) and Wesley Snipes (Blade) star in Chaos, an action-packed, heist thriller about two detectives who team-up in pursuit of a bank robber who knows too much about the inner workings of the police department. In Seattle, Detective Quentin Conners (Statham) is unfairly suspended and his partner quits the force after a tragic shooting involving a hostage.

I do not think this film had a wide release and that is a damn dirty shame. Wesley Snipes and Jason Statham together in one movie is a lot of hero for the dollar! I am a huge fan of Mr. Snipes, he is a fantastic and underutilized action star and I hope to see more of him. On TMZ the other day he was awesome! When the paparazzi were following him – he ran, they tried to keep up but were horribly out of breath. Wesley then made fun of them and their lack of athletic ability as they rested and then ran again, giving them a second chance to catch him. Young Hollywood take notes, the photogs are slow, like zombies. When you go out wear sneakers.

I will certainly add this to the pile of rentals I need to watch, and hope to see some Snipes VS Statham fight scenes. They are both talented warriors and I think that this rental could be a B – Movie delight. We will wait and see. Have any of you had a chance to see this yet? (Kristina – this means you).

All I’m going to say is don’t get your hopes up, Doug.

When you watch it you will understand why it didn’t get a theatrical release.

Weak Story. Weak Acting (except for Statham, he always brings the intensity), Weak Action (no action really, and that’s a shame for a movie starring Snipes and Statham), Weak Twist (I saw it coming from a mile away, not bragging but it really is that predictable), Weak, Weak, Weak…

Just trust me… Don’t get your hopes up.

I like Snipes as an action star. He was pretty good in the Contractor which was a straight to dvd movie. I was looking at his IMDB credits and see that his last 6 or 7 movies are straight to dvd. Is going the Van Damn way (straight to dvd) the way of the future?

I got Chaos on DVD months ago, and very much enjoyed the plot twists and turns. Snipes is great as a bad guy in this film, and Statham is just golden (as usual). The story is decent (done before), but the pace of the film is spot on. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Who knows Rafa, we may have to scour the bargain bins to find hidden treasures if this is the case.

  5. I agree with Rafa, Contractor was fairly decent (it also had 300′s Lena Heady in it too) for a staight to DVD release…but here is an odd situation.

Choas has Wesley Snipes- who could still be bankable if he really wanted to be (one more DTV actioner and Snipes should go back to fare like White Men Can’t Jump or Jungle Fever…)

It has Jason Statham, and even though I disliked War, I would not consider the actor washed up just yet. (Heck- and LGF greenlit Crank 2 which speaks volumes)

It has Ryan Phillipe- who has been in respectable projects in the last number of years.

Some people seem to like it…so why is a film like this going right to video?

Here’s an answer, the same old song and dance from Mr. Wesley Snipes
    http://www.nypost.com/seven/12152007/gossip/pagesix/snipes__tax_rap_is_racism_26481.htm

Snipes even blames racism for the failure of his 2004 movie, “Blade: Trinity,” saying, “There are so few guys who do action and do it well. Even fewer who are African-American. Even fewer who have classical-theater training. So a cat like me coming in, I’m bringing all of that to an action movie. Since there are so few people that do this and have that pedigree, people disregard their contribution.”

And the last film of Snipes to get a theatrical release was…?
And ‘Blade Trinity’ didn’t bomb due strictly to “to racism”. While there was the mis-step of bringing in the side characters who hogged screen time, it is well known that, as much as we dig him, that film’s failure was partly due to problems with Snipes himself. I mean, you know, when the lead actor doesn’t show up on set when he is supposed to, causing the filmmakers have to cover themselves with body doubles and stealing shots from leftover footage…all I’m saying is that a film’s failures might be on the shoulders of New Line, Marvel, Goyer etc….but when the lead actor/co-producer is a party to it, it soils his reputation.

And yes, Snipes has made comments like this since his tax troubles have come to light. But seeing how this thing drags on, the powers that be either don’t have a strong case or Mr. Snipes is small potatoes.

I saw bootleg copy of this in Asia around 2005 so it’s been in the vault for quite a while. I enjoyed it but apparently it has major plot holes. At the time I watched it without really thinking and enjoyed the twists in the story.

  7. Red Steven says:

Nagy. I have made the appointment for us to get our Snipes tattoos. Money Train for life.

  8. bigsampson says:

ya i had this on bootleg too…..as a martial artis that really thinks wesley snipes moves in most of his movies are more realistic then a lot of others….i mean all it take is a good front kick to hurt ya lol…but any ways ya this movie sucked IMO.

  9. Ransom says:

Word to that! We need a Money Train 2! Beyatch.
