Sienna Miller Cast As Baroness In G.I Joe
We get word today about the first G.I. Joe casting, and It is the Baroness. The story is made available to us from Variety via IESB:
Sienna Miller is the first thesp to enlist in Paramount Pictures’ big-budget tentpole “G.I. Joe.” British actress will play the film’s female lead, described as a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage.
This is just down right fucking horrible. The baroness is a black hearted, black haired, black leather wearing warrior woman from parts unknown, sporting an intimidating (and yet arousing) accent. So when they do the casting logically they choose a blond that looks like she can’t bench press a cantaloupe. Someone needs to be fired over this, for real. Pack your shit retard – this is a titanic miscast and you are now selling hot dogs.
I could get my 12 year old nephew drunk and he could pick better. No offense to Sienna Miller, she seems like a nice girl, and has an awesome look, but at 5′5 with a model physique she just does not have the build to play the character properly. I could be over reacting, that is always possible but the “look” of a character is very important to me; and when you have an iconic character like the baroness that gives you a blueprint on how to cast…you should use it. I wouldn’t want Tom Cruise to play Destro for the same reason.
I want this movie to rule, so my skin is thin. But with all the talk of Action Man and all the other horrible buzz that has surrounded this project, I have a hard time looking forward to this. With this bullshit announcement I am set off and really hope I am wrong. G.I. Joe has so much gold to be mined, I just hope we have people in control that are able to properly do so. If done with great care and excellence you could keep pumping out movies till the franchise surpasses the Friday The 13th series.
I can only hope that the casting gets better from here. Yo Joe.
Doug…isn’t there a slight possibility that Miss Miller can dye her hair, and pump up a bit? I also don’t see the character in a live-action form, wearing the eyemask.
She certainly could seeler, and I hope she does.
Tony Danza could also get a sex change, have massive re constructive surgery, get hair extensions and be cast as Lady J.
Let us hope she has the same dedication to looking the part as Christian Bale does. If she can pull it off, I will gladly eat my delicious words.

Interesting – a villain role announcement before Duke. They should announce the rest of COBRA too, then the good guys. I’d like that.
We’ll have to wait and see about it. If the part is horribly written, no actress is going to be able to save it. I can think of a few actresses who i’d like to see play Baroness (Eva Green would be my top choice) but the problem is that they’re all too well known and this is probably a fourth tier part, if that.
On another note, i’ve just been cast as Action Man. I just thought you’d like to know Doug;)
Lucy Lawless would have been good….go Xena.
She was smoking hot in Layer Cake, but has the typical skinny-as-a-pole Hollywood female physique, which doesn’t seem to fit with the Baroness that I remember from 20+ years ago…
Michelle Ryan (of Bionic Woman fame) wouldn’t be too bad IMO.
Well I we cant be sure if she is final cast or not but i always thought Baroness was Romanian because of her distinct accent. But Im worried a bit of this mis-casting Im still waiting for my man Cobra Commander and Duke to be casted and how the feel of the movie will be like. Is it to late to ask Bay to make this film too? His ties to the military would help.

Sienna Miller can act, but to cast her as the Baroness??? Sorry, I’m with Doug on this one. If this is true and she turns out to be good I’ll recant, but right now – dumb ass choice. She shouldn’t be anywhere near the GI Joe flick. Then again, I’m not expecting this movie to be very good ….though I really hope to be proven wrong on that assumption.
