John Singleton to Direct a Sci-Fi Horror Film

John-SingletonJohn Singleton (director of ‘Boyz N’ the Hood’ and ‘Poetic Justice’) is one of my favorite directors. In his films he has covered many important issues mostly within the urban community, and is never too afraid to cover anything controversial. Now he surprises fans as he is tackling his very first horror film, called ‘Executive Order: Six’

Movieweb gives us this:

The plot revolves around a small snowbound town that must battle a mysterious horror. The horror turns out to be an alien unleashed after a plane crashes in the mountains.

I must say I’m surprised that Singleton has picked a film to direct outside of his usual genre. He has taken chances in the past, (the god awful ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ which I have long forgotten and forgave him for) yet I’m intrigued to see how well he does with this film. Besides, the synopsis sounds quite interesting. A killer alien in a small snowbound town? This sounds like ‘Predator’ meets ’30 Days of Night’ and there’s nothing wrong with that! ;)

Casting is underway, and my guess is the actor Tyrese Gibson is a shoe-in. ;)

I was hoping it was called ‘Executive Order: Sixty Six’…two hours of clones slaying jedi ;)

Plotline vaguely smells of The Thing.

    What is “the urban community”?

  4. The black urban community. Most of John Singleton’s films deal with African Americans in urban communities. Did that make more sense?
