If you stop and think about it, the reason the Harry Potter franchise works is because it is impervious to studio executive meddling.

The contract WB has with Rowling is so iron clad that they have to film what she writes and nothing else. This means they can't milk it by having a spin-off prequel about the Order of the Phoenix or a TV series taking place during Harry's summers. And they cannot get so nervous that they won't make as much money as last time that they decide to rush through the story rather than letting it play out.

Can you imagine if Potter wasn't based the books and was completely in WB's control? Azkaban would never have been made and the studio would have demanded that Voldemort fight Harry in the third film, get killed, and then be replaced by a bigger baddie, just as an example.

That's why i love all the films and i cannot wait for this one. It's amazing that they're already filming. I was only just watching my OOTP dvd last night.
