I dunno… I love this series and if they don’t find a geek to make it, it’ll never satisfy the depth of the books. They should ask me to direct it.

I really liked Lynch’s vision of the universe, but the final product was nearly unwatchable.

Its just something more recent that people might associate him with, and I didn’t imply that he directed it. Lots of actors direct too. Some are even good at it.

Berg is a horrible horrible director. He manages to detatch you from the characters in every way possible in all three of the movies he’s directed(The Rundown, Friday Night Lights, and The Kingdom). His upcoming Hancock with Will Smith has the potential to suck more massively than anything he’s ever done in the past. I hope this rumor is false, because a look at his IMDb page tells me that he doesn’t have much time on the clock…

Ummm, your article implies that Peter Berg directed Smokin’ Aces (he only acted in that film which was directed by Joe Carnahan). Berg directed The Kingdom, The Rundown and Friday Night Lights…

And for the record. Lynch’s Dune is the definitive version in my book. All other versions are sad poseurs thus far.

i like how the article stated that it was a poorly recived miniseries, when in fact it was popular enough that a couple of years after they made the mini-series they made a sequel to it

anyway. i don’t think you can translate dune into something thats 2 hours long with the material of the book. the pacing will eventually break this movie, but i would still go see it

I’m the opposite, if I know that a book is being made into a movie, I wait to read the book until after I’ve seen the film. Otherwise, I spend the entire time comparing the movie to the book…with unfavorable results 99% of the time.

That said, I looove the Dune books. I actually liked the David Lynch film and the recent miniseries. I think that translating the Dune series to film is a Sisyphean task and I give props to anyone who attempts it.

I for one ****loved**** the David Lynch version. Didn’t get much in the Sci-Fi miniseries, or Children Of Dune….personally, I’d scrap a new Dune adaptation, and just shoot for…Dune Messiah. I don’t give a rat’s tail about the rise of Mu’audib.
