Halle Berry talks About ‘Nefertiti’

Halle BerryFor a couple of years now, I have been hearing about Halle Berry’s and Marc Forester’s (director of ‘Monster’s Ball’) dream project ‘Nefertiti’ that has been stuck in development hell. Just when I thought about giving up on seeing a biopic about one of Egypt’s most powerful pharoahs, Halle Berry has recently been talking about the future project.

MTV Movies Blog gives us this:

The flick’s progress may appear to be measured in inches, but Halle assures us that it’s still moving forward…it’s just a matter of piecing everything together. And those are admittedly big pieces, since Berry has grand visions for her historical biopic.
“It should be epic in feel,” Berry exclaimed to MTV News,” adding that it will have “lots of action because it’s all about that era in time when Nerfititi was ruling her nation.”

Hmm….that actually sounds like it’s going to be a project that could break Berry’s “horrible film” streak. She’s perfect for the role of Nefertiti, and the last person who played Nefertiti was Rachel Weisz in ‘The Mummy Returns.’ (Something that made me laugh almost as much as seeing Elizabeth Taylor play Cleopatra) Although, who knows when this project will be made considering Forester is working on the next James Bond film, and Halle Berry will be a mother soon.

So what do you think of this news? Do you think we’re in store for an epic film like ‘Ben Hur’ or are we in store for a big budget historical flop like ‘Cleopatra?’

It would be nice to see her in a big historical epic movie.

  2. I actually think her “streak” will end this coming weekend. “Things We Lost In The Fire” is being talked about like it is her best acting bit since ‘Ball”.

And yes, I wouldn’t mind a pic like Neferiti either. Don’t know ’bout Halle being in the lead though.

Nefertiti means “small penis” in some languages = flop

    • f says:

Idiot you fucking moran. Nefertiti mean in egyptian the perfect one! I don’t think your penis is perfect little mother fucker

Funny, as I was reading this, I immediately thought of Cleopatra. Unless there’s some crazy Egyptian orgy scene where Halle’s taking it in the pooper while tonguing Angelina Jolie, this’ll tank.

And Rachel Weisz as an Egyptian princess was pretty hilarious. In that scene, everyone was bronzed like crazy and then you’ve got this Casper the Friendly Ghost woman standing there. One of these things is not like the other……

    WTF Kristina??? hahahaha

I used to like Halle Berry but mostly she just annoys me in virtually anything she does.

  6. Cinéfan says:

Yeah, Halle can be annoying at times…I’d rather cast Serena ; )

  7. Serena says:

aww..cinefan, don’t make me blush now! lol

  9. Doug says:

Nefertiti wasn’t a black woman though. What’s next, casting Nicole Kidman as Harriet Tubman?

    • f says:

Nefertiti is half arabian half nubien. get your facts straight before you talk fuck head.. ! lol nicole kidman you racist mother fucker!

  10. kym says:

Rachel Weisz was Princess Nefertiri in Mummy Returns, not Nefertiti

  11. Amos says:

I think that Halle Berry is a perfect fit for Nefertiti.
There is one project circulating around the internet that seems to be pretty interesting. It’s a film about Nefertiti called Goddess of the Sun. Parts were written for Cicely Tyson, James Earl Jones, Ben Kingsley, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Denzel Washington and Stacey Dash. I don’t know if it is the actual Neferiti film but it seems like its the furtherest along at any rate.

Actually it’s a proven fact that Nefertiti was indeed a black woman. After discovering her mummy in 2005 they reconstructed her face and science revealed that she was a lighter complected black woman along with the rest of the Egyptian Queens….. Cleopatra was of mix race with the appearence that favored the caucasion side of her genetics….

What is the status of the movie Nefertiti? Is it still going to be made and when will it come out?
