What A Marvel CGI Could Look Like

I’ve gone on record a couple of times suggesting that the upcoming Justice League movie would be a LOT better served if done in a proper CGI format instead of a live action flick. Well, Michael sent me this link this morning to a video clip that’s over a year old but I’ve never seen it before and I thought I’d share it with you guys.

The clip appears to be a Marvel Ultimate Alliance Cinematic video, and personally I think it looks great. This just sort of reinforces my belief that Justice League… or Avengers for that matter… would look fantastic in this format.

Take a look at the video and judge for yourself, maybe you’ll disagree:

  1. This animation is make it by blur studio for a videogame I think. It’s in her web: blurstudio.com

  2. All I know about comics is from the movies, but that looked freaking awesome. I much prefer a Spider-Man who shoots the one-lines as much as his webs.

That’s the opening sequence for Marvel: The Ultimate Alliance game for multiple platforms. As for the idea that a JLA movie being in CGI I am all for it and I think more fantasy/comic book type movies could be better played out in a CGI format. Most of the action seems more natural rather than stunt and wire based like in the Spiderman and Xmen movies and there’s no limitation on the things they could do since there’s no risk of injury to stuntmen.

  4. Yes, this is a FMV cutscene from Marvel Ultimate Alliance. It’s a great fun co-op game if you like that sort of thing (very similar to Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance, X-Men Legends, etc…).

Ok ok ok we know what game its from, and yes it looks awesome, but if you look at a lot of the blizzard stuff its even better

You know what I like about this, it actually appears like Spider-Man’s mouth is moving when he talks, unlike when he was talking in the movies. That always bugged me about the Spider-Man movies.

Nice piece of work and more importantly the characterizations are well done to boot.

Yeah, it’s not just the way the characters looked, it’s how the acted too. Spider-man was cracking jokes the whole time. That’s something the Spider-man movies sorely lacked. The Peter Parker of the comics is a wanna-be jewish comedian, like he got bit by a radio-active Jackie Mason. It’s how he deals with his fear. The movies made him all depressing and emo.
And Wolverine is supposed to be short, ugly, and grouchy. In the comics they joke about how short and ugly he is. Not to his face though…hehe.
And Doom, god… If only the producers of the FF movies knew what Victor Von Doom was really like they could have saved those movies.

I have the game on my Xbox 360 and I’ve watched that cinematic dozens of times. I’d love to see a whole movie like that.

You are right John….A justice league movie that looks like this (nicely done BLUR) would rock….I have this game on my PSP and for the Wii and thought the same thing.

Yep. That was awesome. A movie in this style WITH a GOOD story would be fantastic.

I bought this game when it came out for the Xbox 360 and that beginning cinematic just dropped my jaw to the floor when I saw it. It’s very disappointing that DC doesn’t get their act together and make their Justice league movie along these lines because i think that by using CGI like this they could ultimately maximize the potential of each of the characters and convey their personalities way better than having a real actor come in and bring his person baggage to the roles.
