Will Ferrell “Semi-Pro” Poster

Semi-Pro is the new comedy coming out featuring Will Ferrell as a former Basketball player who goes back to coach his old semi-pro team. And folks… I’m sorry… but I have little to no interest in this thing. I’ve been a fan of Ferrell’s for a long time… but dude… get a new schtick. The “He’s a fat, out of shape guy who’s not very smart that excels at his sport” thing is something he’s already done… TWICE.
i can already picture about 12 of the sight gags they’ll be doing, with Ferrell doing slam dunks… running sprints with the team while eating donuts all while spouting trademark Ferrell one liners. It’s been DONE! BY YOU!.
Anyway… here’s the poster. Watch… after saying all that I’ll end up loving the thing.

You are not alone, Campea. I love him, but he’s bordering on Jim Carrey territory for me. Loved Carrey too, but his schtick got really old really FAST.
it’s time for a new face in comedy.
Disagree!! you got to give it to the guy. He found his nitch. No need to change it. He is making a billion dollars a movie why change it and take the chance to lose it all.
Keep on Will. keep on cashing that paycheck.
I’m hoping this is more Talladega Nights and less Kicking & Screaming.
Talledaga was the apex of his comedy style
I adore Will Ferrell so much, but even I have to admit that I’d like to see something a little different. Sometimes the same jokes no matter how well you deliver them get old. Having said that – I really do want to see this movie – what can I say – I’m a Ferrell fan and a basketball fan.
I’m with Campea on this one. He’s doing the same stuff over and over.
This is probably why I loved Stranger than Fiction so much, it wasn’t his usual over the top funny, but he was still really good in it. It was in a way his “Punch Drunk Love”…just not as weird. Anywho, this film will still rock, hopefully.
John, you’re so right on this one.
But the American public will see this shit, no doubt. I won’t.
Seems like Ferrel is really going the “Jim Carrey-route” at the moment.
He is a good actor and an amazing comedian, he should do a bit more sophisticated stuff. No one will remember “Blades of Glory” or “Ricky Bobby” in a few years.
Come on Will, you got enough money already! Do something for you reputation!
The only mild interest I have in the film was that some of it was filmed in the Flint,MI area last spring. The major switch from other Will Farrell flicks is that it is set in the mid-1970′s. So you will hear/see afro jokes, jabs at disco, Woody Harrelson’s wide collar…
But yes, I agree, Gio. Will’s making one too many trips to the well. That said, I loved Tallegeda Nights. But…I think it’s safe to say most loved Anchorman even more. I did.
He needs more Ron Burgudys, less Blades Of Glory.
Footnote to New Line: that teaser poster sucks to high heaven.
Yes i do agree is this is another movie Ferrell is playing out shape dude that is doing physical comedy, but he has so much range. Look at movies like strnager than fiction, and melinda and Melinda.
And a casual person looking at that poster would not even be able to tell that it’s Will Ferrell. Maybe that’s the point of the poster, to make you sit and stare at it, but why have your big name star on a poster if you can’t even tell for sure that it’s him?
This movie looks awesome! Will Ferrel is hilarious! Kicking and Screaming was awesome! I LOVE the ’70s and I’m only 15. I envy all of you people who got to grow up in this awesome and phychadelic era. Music was actually good in the ’60s and the ’70s. Actually it was and still is the best!!! Rock on!!
