Owen Wilson Attempts Suicide

This news has just completely caught me of guard. Owen Wilson, one of my favorite comedic actors, has been hospitalized after reportedly attempting suicide last night. Most of the reports are claiming (although a couple have differing accounts) that Wilson slit his own wrists. Owen Wilson recently split from Kate Hudson, but really nothing is known right now about what lead to the attempt, or what his motivation behind it is.
Listen folks, I rant and rave about movie crap all the time, it’s what I’m passionate about… but I try to keep in mind that at the end of the day it’s really not that important… it’s just the movies. Well… this is REAL life, and a harsh reminder that sometimes people hurt a lot, even when they’re rich and famous.
Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Owen Wilson, and to Wilson himself at this time. His life, no matter how hard things may have seemed to him before last night … is about to get a lot more complicated and tough in the coming weeks and months.

Jesus Christ, where the hell did this come from? Is it just me or does Wilson seem like the LAST actor who would try to commit suicide? But I’m saying that just by knowing the way he chooses to act on-screen, I have no idea about him personally. But I really can’t think why he would do something like this, but I guess he had his reasons.
All I can see out there on the net is that the hospitalization is real and that the ‘suicide attempt’ is just rumours.
His nose looks like a penis.
I hope he’s ok. I wish he’d do a film with Dennis Hopper – does anyone else think he looks like hoppers son?

You should read this. It’s an interview Owen did with Blender where he talks about only recently thinking drugs were OK.
It’s such a shame…Hope he’s OK and realizes what’s truly important.
“Poor Owen Wilson, etc etc” and all that.
But it’s hard to feel pity for someone so rich who does such shallow work (however good diversions those movies are from anything even slightly important in life).
At the end of the day he’s a multi-millionaire and will get TONS of pity and accolades from complete strangers about this, after he ‘overcomes’ his problems. Meanwhile basically every one of us probably knows several people personally who are dealing with depression right now, and/or on drugs (prescribed or otherwise), and yet we hardly think much about helping them out or offering a kind word.
I’m not trying to indict anyone on this, but the state of affairs on how we bow down to celebrities even when they obviously are screaming at us “I’ve failed at life”… the whole situation is sadder than anything Owen Wil$on is actually going through. My sympathies do go out to this extremely rich stranger, tho…
Who saw this coming? Not I.

it is really a testament to just how little we actually know about these people and who they are.
Even the most popular famous rich people are still people with the many of the same problems and concerns. Still – sucide makes me angry. I hope that he gets the counseling and help he needs and lets his family be there to support him.
My surprise wore off quickly after hearing this, don’t get me wrong, suicide (attempted or not) is tragic no matter who you are.
What we should see is: celebrities seem to have everything we desire (wealth, fame, drugs, parties, women, etc…) or think will make us happy. But even they see that these things don’t satisfy, even going so far as to commit suicide.
We all need to find something that will give us joy when all those things are stripped away (eventually they will be)
The ‘suicide attempts’ thing is what the National Enquirer and Star Magazine are reporting. Take that for what it is. Until an official statement from someone representing Owen Wilson or from Wilson himself is made, then the suicide thing is just a rumor. Also, it’s rumored that not only did he slit his wrists, but he also took a bunch of painkillers.
As for the hospitalization, it’s been confirmed by the police. I hope he gets better no matter what happened to him.

I’m usually sarcastic as all get out, but this shit isn’t funny, IF it’s true. I still haven’t heard confirmation, only rumors.

Owen Wilson is mainly a COMEDIAN. His work is supposed to be funny and entertaining, not awe-inspiring or anything. And he does that quite well – although some people might disagree. Also, the fact that people care more for him than other human beings who have the same problems is due to the fact that these people see him as a FRIEND. Because he’s someone who made us FEEL BETTER each time he was on the screen. Because he made us forget about the problems in our lives. Because we LIKE him as an actor. That’s why.
Also, the fact that he’s rich is a stupid argument. It basically shows that you’re money-obsessed.
If the Butterscotch Stallion cant see a reason to carry on…
…what hope is there for the rest of us?
I hate to see anyone go through something like this, whether he’s rich or not is inconsequential.

funny how quickly you can lose respect for someone – i love his films but can’t have respect for anyone who thinks suicide is the only way out – its weak, very weak.
I just hope there is another reason for his hospitalisation
owen I hope you get this you have alot work left to do so listen the world might be a crule and strange place but you make us forget our problems sorry we did not yours hope is a wonderful thing if used with love so don’t give in to this world so much for you to do take care of your self and remember cutting your wrist’s just plain hurt’s so please make movies instead of pain for your self.
Owen your a great Actor, and comedian. I hope you work out your problems, You have brought much laughter and enjoyment to many. Work it out, stay strong and GOD be with you always. Change the things you can, accept the things you can’t and move on.
Owen Wilson is an accomplished actor with wonderful diction that will take him places later on in dramatic roles. I am saddened to hear of his suicide attempt, but it was obviously a cry for help. Men who really want to commit suicide use a gun to the head and make sure they succeed. Owen is crying out for attention … although, doesn’t he get enough of that already?
