Lexi Alexander isnt that great of a director i am kinda worried, i though the Green Street Hooligans had a great story line and was really interesting but she did some really stupid stuff that drew you out of the movie. For example her music selection throughout the film makes you stop watching and just go "why the fuck is this song playing?" I hope she doesn't mess this movie up.

@ Steven

Tom Jane's leaving being a big warning flag for me is not that he was the be all end all Punisher. (Hell, in the first movie, he's not even playing the Punisher, he's Frank Castle up until the very end when he decides not to kill himself. THAT'S when he decides he's something else.) It's because the man was dedicated to the character, he knew who the Punisher is, and how the next movie should be, and he obviously didn't feel the script for the sequel was good enough...

when did Tom Jane become the mold that held the punisher down?

he was "ok" as the punisher he sure as hell didn't define him. i'm personally looking forward to this film, because in all honesty if they fuck up this film it'll prolly never get made agin

I'm just glad they are making another one. I really thought this was dead in the water after Jane left. If Hulk can get a second chance then so can the Punisher.

They're talkin it up as if it's gonna be the greatest, but you still have to wonder: if it's gonna be so badass and true to the comics....why'd Tom Jane leave? That, my friends, is the warning flag.

Lexi Alexander = Hottest director ever?

The first Punisher movie was crap, but I'm really interested in the sequel now that Stevenson is Frank Castle.
But you gotta wonder why Thomas Jane pulled out of the project.
Did he want too much money or is the script just bad?
We'll have to wait and see..

@Naught:
Don't feel bad I almost posted the same thing before I noticed who wrote the post.

Anyways, as much as I did enjoy The Punisher, I've thought several times while re-watching it that Thomas Jane was actually one of the weaker spots. Don't get me wrong, he's a good actor but he didn't really bring any intensity to the character. During the fight with the Russian and the attack on the club at the end of the movie, instead of being serious scenes they ended up coming across as comical and lacking any emotional zing. Jane, at times, seemed to just be walking through them, saying his lines.

Hopefully, Stevenson and Alexander can team together and give us a Punisher who actually deals out harsh punishment and doesn't just torture people with popsicles.

Ha, I did the same thing and then realized....

Although (with my masculinity firmly in check) Tomas Jane is one serious piece of man meat.

Its a shame he will not be in the sequel and I doubt I will actually see the next one even if Stevenson does a fantastic job.

My personal opinion, I think the comicbook-turn-movie genre is starting to peter out. Films like Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, Blade III and Spiderman III were all more bad than good.

For as long as ive read comics, ive been more of a MARVEL guy than DC but I feel as though the reinvigorated BATMAN and SUPERMAN franchises are now carrying the torch.

I sincerely hope that the braintrust behind MARVEL seriously STEP IT UP.
