Man I love William Shatner. The man is just one of the freaking more naturally funny guys I’ve ever met. Seriously… not trying to sound Sci-Fi geeky… but if you ever get the chance to see Shatner and Leonard Nimoy together at a convention or anything… you MUST go see them. They’re hilarious together.
Anyway, In the video below, you’ll see that Shatner is claiming that Nimoy is indeed in the new Star Trek film… and Shatner ISN’T. Check it out:

This is an interesting bit of news indeed. I have come up with one possibly explanation as to why Nimoy is in it and Shatner isn’t: Nimoy might possibly be playing Sarek (Spock’s father). It would make sense, and I think it’d be a great gesture to the fans.
Could be years after Kirk died – Spock lives to be close to 200+ years old. We’ll see…
Kirk died, how can he be in it? Spock, is Vulcan, they living to a fucking old age. Yep, Spock in the flick I can see. Anyway, it’s Nimoy’s turn, Shatner was in “Generations”
Makes sense to me.
I am hoping for a scenario like the two parter Menagerie where Spock does his best to save Kirk from his fate in Generations. Spock could use the Guardian from City On the Edge of Forever to go back in time and disrupt the time flow slightly so that Kirk does not end up in the Nexus.
By creating an alternate time line JJ and the boys neatly sidestep the continuity conumdrum and set the stage for a new set of adventures.
