Mozzerino, I agree with your comments about geting the essence of Superman right (those opening credits gave me shivers, and superman’s beating at the hands of Luther’s thugs worked really well). I have to say that, overall, I really like the film.

But having the kid was a very strange choice because the whole “superkiss” thing at the end of Supes 2 was… well, stupid. Continuing this thread with no explanation as to if she remembers, etc. spoils the film a bit. Why the hell didn’t he just ignore that part?

Anyway, I think a nwe director would be good idea.

There’s no denying it, SR did have MAJOR problems:
Mainly an illogical script, a cartoonish villain and roughly 30 minutes overlength. Not to mention Kate Bosworth.
Yet, there are parts of “Superman Returns” that nearly brought tears to my eyes. The opening credits, the fantastic soundtrack, the amazing shuttle rescue, that stuff was purely Superman.
And Brandon Routh did good I think. A few years down the line he will have matured a bit, which will only make him better.
“Superman Returns” did get the essence of Superman right. The lonelines he feels, the sense of not fitting in, but having to continue a legacy. Also the overall Christ/Our saviour metaphor worked very well.
Let’s face it, in it’s essence Superman is nothing but a alien Jesus in a cape and a better haircut.

There is plenty of potential for “The Man of Steel” to be the best Superman film ever. The makers will have learned their lesson from the first one and will hopefully get a tighter script with more action, then everybody should be happy.

Dark Buhudda, Clint Eastwood is also the same director who gave us Million Dollar Baby, Unforgiven, Outlaw Josey Wales, Letters From Iwo Jima, Play Misty For Me, Heartbreak Ridge and White Hunter Black Heart.

So there.
But—he’d be better signed to helm a version of Jonah Hex than Supeyman.

As for Singer and Soupyman, if he wants to move on to other things- even get back to the Logan’s Run remake- I would not give one hoot if he did walk away from Soupyman.

2010? Hmmm…well, at least Miss Bosworth cat put something on her bones. If she she don’t look out, she could win the part of a biopic on the Karen Carpenter…when the late singer was laid out in the coffin…

Unfortunately Superman is such a big property that I can’t forsee any movies being brilliant. Too many people with too much invested in the project interfering with any singular directorial vision. Though it means they can save the movie from being a complete disaster, it also means they stop it from being a complete triumph.

The same director who brought us The Bridges of Madison County?

Interesting comments about your idea of calling in Clint Eastwood to direct the next Superman movie.

I think i’d be interested in seeing that. Eastwood is definitely one of the best directors in the business today.

However, I wonder if Clint Eastwood could handle all of the special effects an action packed Superman film would require?

I’d like to see a different director for Supes 2. I think Singer should move on to other projects.

I’m not necessarily angry, but that movie was crapola. I’m tired of getting hyped only to get let down. I’m just irritated, I guess. I went into that movie expecting SUPERMAN, and I got a Days of Our Lives/Maury paternity test show. Fuck that.

Superman Returns started like “Alone in the Dark” by Uwe Boll – with writen dialoge to explain what the heck they were going to do with the movie; now correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t GOOD movies supose to show …um… a FUCKING MOVIE, not text for some lame ass plot?

- Krazie835, totally agree with your comment about the “Kiss” to wipe her memmory (lame as that was too) WHAT WAS HE THINKING??? CAN ANYONE EXPLAN THIS TO ME?? If this indeed was ment to follow the one of the last movies with Chris Reeve, then what the hell was going on? BIGGEST LET DOWN IN A MOVIE EVER!!!!

Get Chris Nolan to direct it

Delay it ’til 2015 so Kate Bosworth can have plenty of time to take acting lessons and look old enough to play Lois fucking Lane as a woman and not as the jilted prom queen. God, Superman Returns was worse than Taco Bell diarrhea.
