Donnie Wahlberg Joins Righteous Kill

Donnie Wahlberg is one of those rare music stars who successfully and properly made the jump to an acting career. Upon the demise of his New Kids On The Block phenomena, he eventually walked away from it… started taking serious acting lessons… had some great teachers… took some small roles… and eventually became what I think is a great character actor (the dude was bloody brilliant in Mel Gibson’s “Ransom”)
Looks like Donnie is gonna get to step it up from the old Saw franchise and is getting to act beside 2 of the best in the history of the business as he joins Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in Righteous Kill. The folks over at JoBlo give us the following:
“That’s going to be a real challenge. I get to work with two of the greatest actors and drive to Boston every night. We start shooting in September, so it will be like going to school for me with two fantastic teachers.” In the film, Pacino and DeNiro star as brooding, vociferously furious cops who are on the trail of a serial killer. Wahlberg plays the young rookie in awe of their impossibly powerful vocal cords.
Don’t take this the wrong way… I like Mark Wahlberg… but I think Donnie is just a better actor and I’m thrilled for him to get this opportunity. I also think it’s a good move for the film. Now if someone over there would just smarten up and dump that no talent 50 Cent from the project, I might be able to start taking this movie seriously.

I agree. Donnie Wahlberg was excellent in “Ransom.” But he was just as excellent in “The Sixth Sense”, although the role was considerably shorter.
I was surprised at how much weight he lost for that role.
Ive liked Donnie ever since i seen him in band of brothers(best mini series ever). I’ve always wanted to see him do more and get more respect in the industry and it seems that like thats happening now.
He is the perfect example of how to get into the movie industry hard work and patience, im sure when left new kids he could have done movie where he stared in but the movie was garbage like so many musicians do now but didnt instead he made a slow steady rise and now is getting the roles he diserves.
He was good in Band of Brothers, but then again so was the entire cast.
Both of the Wahlbergs have done quite well for themselves with the acting gig.
It’s easy to dismiss singer as actors and actors as singers – or models as anything – because there are so many terrible examples of people who think that they can do both. And can’t.
I quite like Donnie Wahlberg but there is no way you can convince me he is more talented than his brother.
Do we know how big 50 Cent’s role will be in this thing? Here’s hoping it will be quite small but at the end of the day we are all going to see this thing. It’s De Niro and Pacino on screen together again! This time for the whole flick!
Finally someone who thinks Donnie is the better actor of the two brothers. I am so excited that he can have something that will get him out of his brother’s shadow. Yay!
I loved Donnie Wahlberg in Band of Brothers & Boomtown. I watched a show on Spike last night with him & he was solid in that as well.
i think donnie is an awesome actor, i loved him in saw 2 and i think he was great in the sixth sense also he is hot
