Back From Comic Con – Hulk – No Uncut Tonight

Posted by on 30. 07. 2007in News Chat

Hey there guys. Well, I’m back from Comic Con… just got in a few hours ago. I was originally supposed to fly home this afternoon, but some scheduling changes for Hulk filming meant I had to come back a little sooner than I originally expected… so I caught a flight last night at 11:30pm… and arrived in Toronto at 9am. CRAZY! I am so tired you wouldn’t even believe it! Man I had so much fun at Comic Con… and on Sunday afternoon I was even asked by Lakeshore and MGM if I wanted to MC the Pathology Panel. There apparently were a lot of Movie Blog readers there, cause when I went on stage and said “Movie Blog” it got quite a reaction. I’ll post the video of it later.

Anyway… with me having to shoot over to the Hulk set this afternoon, it means we won’t be able to have our regular Monday Roundtable podcast. I’M SOOOO SORRY. In a feeble attempt to make up for it, fire me off some questions and I’ll do a “Mailbag” edition tomorrow.

Ok… off I go!

  1. Lou says:

Thanks for the heads up – most of us were expecting that I think.

Have fun at the Hulk shoot!

  2. Kevin C says:

    John,

With whate we know now from the TDK trailer and its dialogue, what are your thoughts about the plot of the film and the number of villains they are going for?

IMO, it seems like there is a crime syndicate or group of felons ie the mob, and Batman spends alot of time “hammering them” and they collectively turn to the Joker to take out Batman, but they get much more then they were expecting and the Joker takes over and wreaks havoc on Gotham.

I think if this is the general idea, that having more villains is okay because they arent going to necesarily be developed but be introduced and then beaten by Batman. That is good because they can spend more time on the character of the Joker and mix in some action before a climax or showdown between Batman and Joker.

    Thoughts?

  3. Ross says:

    Okay question John,

What films (old films included) that you wish had a special edition DVD? In other words films with which is there hardly any special features on the DVD and you wish you could see more (deleted/extended scenes, Making Of featurettes etc.)?

    Thanks,

    Ross

  4. PHIL from LI NY says:

    Hi John,

Tell as your experience at the Pathology party. How cool was it to hang out with the stars from Heroes? Your a lucky man, I envy you.

    -Phil from Long Island NY

  5. Rick King says:

Is it me, or has Doug Nagy been absent from TMB recently? Was there a post that Doug would be absent for a while?

  6. CastleKnight says:

    Hi John,

What are your thoughts on the new casting for the new Watchmen movie? You don’t seem to have talked about it much before and I was just wondering whether you are pumped to see it or not,

    Thanks – Josh

  7. shane razey says:

    Yeah, what Rick said……
    .
Where is the one called “Nagy”?

  8. Rodney says:

I assassinated Doug and consumed his heart because legend tells that if you eat the heart of your prey you will gain their talents.

All I ended up with is the passwords to make posts here and the uncontrollable urge to say “shitfuck” in front of children.

  9. Phil Gee says:

Aw John, you’re breakin’ my balls here. What’s the point of even turning on my computer on a Tuesday morning if there’s no podcast?:)

Ok then, here’s my question. With the podcast having been a live, interactive show on the nowlive network for several months now, it seems that ‘the movie blog: uncut’ has reached it’s apex. You are able to deal with the movie stories of the week in the way you want, open a sort of discourse with a group of listeners while you’re doing it, answer everybody’s great questions (wink), and generally, use the show to talk about movies with the people who visit your site. Do you still have future plans to develop the podcast and add new features to it or are you completely content with the way the show is now, and a recorded roundtable on Monday with two live shows on Wednesday and Friday is how it’s going to stay until the end of time?

Thanks a lot (and if you’re out of breath after reading all that, i don’t blame you).

  10. Jarek (aka nbakid2000) says:

    John,

What is your favorite sequel movie (second movie in a series) of all time? Are there any sequels out there that in your opinion, surpass the original movie?

Mine would have to be Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Everything about this movie was utterly perfect in my eyes.

    Thanks.

  11. lewis says:

Hi John. I was wondering what was your highlight at comic con and will you make it an annual fixture in your calendar from now on?

  12. Rodney says:

John, can you use some of your mighty influence over the influential to get them to come to Fan Expo in Toronto??

You get to hang out with the cast of Heroes, while at Fan Expo we get to see pillow fighting girls and a severe lack of tentacle porn!

  13. Naught says:

LOL @ Rodney. You’re already sounding like Nagy!
I need that podcast John! The Hulk better be good to pay this off.

  14. Mike says:

No problrm John, I’ll be waiting for your next roundtable!! I got my wife to listen to you and now she is hooked on you guys!! Have fun at the Hulk set!!Wish I could go with ya!! lol

  15. Grave says:

Ok John I have a few quick questions

    1. Do you think hollywood got the right idea on how to make money off of comic book movies. i.e. Batman, Iron man, etc

    2. What your thoughts on the quick drop in ticket sales for Transformers and having seen it more than once any change in opinion about the film.

    3. Hollywoods cooking up good super hero movies but do you think they will figure out hot to make a good movie based off a video game. Anyone see DOA? Didnt think so.

    -Grave-

  16. Kristina says:

    Gio,

Did you see the Iron Man footage that was posted here for a short time? If so, what did you think?

  17. DarkKinger says:

The Transformers (all of them) vs. The Hulk: Who would win?

[Why have all Transformers? To make a fair fight, :P]

  18. The Jim Walker says:

Mailbag shmailbag. Boooooo John Campea! Boooooooo! One little bit part and you go all hollywood!!! Next thing you know, you will stop updating the John Campea Nude Website (www.nudecampea.com) . For shame!

    .

LOL. I wonder if anyone went to the website?

  19. Doug Nagy says:

Shane and Rick – Sadly because of funding issues I am no longer employed by themovieblog. This is the reason for the lack of posts.

    Anyone need a butler?

  20. Lou says:

John, please take a moment to expand on the time you spent with Quinto. Where is his head at as far as playing Spock? Any tidbits about ST11 – is the script really good? etc.

    Thanks

    Lou

  21. Kristina says:

    @Nagy

I know a few starlets in need of a DRIVER!

  22. Kevin C says:

Quick ticket sales drop in Transformers? It made over $11 mil over the weekend and is sitting at $283 mil with %40 drops with a few spikes for weekends. I think its showing some pretty good legs and will break $300 mil domestic.

  23. hugh says:

    Hey john,
Was reading an article in a magazine recently about the greatest unmade movies of all time. Ya know movies that were at one stage in production but never went as far as filming. For example Tim burton doing the third batman or james camerons script for spiderman.
Just wondering what film you would most like to have been seen made that was announced or in pre-production but never went as far as filming.
    Thanks.

  24. Phil Gee says:

I would love the irony of a British person having a Canadian butler for a change. Unfortunately, the rules in the UK stipulate that we have to pay vegetable sex offenders a certain higher minimum wage. I just can’t afford Doug Nagy.

  25. Gruff says:

Perhaps you should expand your own website doug. You should do a lot of video. Set up a channel on youtube.

    MAKE A BARBARIAN GORE MOVIE

Darren could play the gentlemen hero. He’d need to grow his beard back though, and he’d need a fat scar, like peter petrelli in lost.

Any ideas for work for Dougs peeps?

  26. UKAndy616 says:

    Hey, John,

What was your favorite moment at Comic Con? What was the one thing that made you say ‘That was fraking cool’? :)

And just for balance what was your least favorite?

Looking forward the podcast, John, it’s been too long.

    Cheers,
    Andy

  27. Rick King says:

    @Doug Nagy

I am truly sorry about the funding issues with TMB, I hope you will find something soon. I do have one suggestion…during the interview, try not to say “cockshit”. :)

    Hang in there Doug!

  28. eanetdude says:

    Hi John!

What are some of your favorite and least favorite Movie Studio Logo sequences at the begining of a movie?

Can you remember a movie that changed the look of the logo to fit the movie’s theme? (i.e., The Matrix films changing the WB logo into green binary code)

  29. What? MORE Hulk filming? Hey, despite my comments under that Hulk post, I was not aware actor Ed Norton read the Movie Blog “That evil Seeler—!I’ll show him! I’ll give that Campea guy a line…Seeler can eat some crow hahahaha”

Campea’s line is “Yes sir” when the four star General (hopefully William Hurt) gives him an order…or “move back, move back” when Hulk is on the rampage…

Seriously though, what are they having you come back for, Gio?

  30. shane razey says:

    Doug,
    .
I could loan you a buck. If it feels better, I’ll pay a buck a joke.
I like John’s work, but I also liked your different take on topics…
and of course your balls to the walls, fuck everyone, “I’m Doug Nagy” sense of humor.
    .
    A fan of the show,
    Shane.

PS. I like you too Rodney.

  31. shane razey says:

    PPS:
    .
    Doug,
    .
    We could move my furnace.
    .
    Shane

  32. Mkfreak2 says:

    1. Doug, I am in desperate need for a paid assasin. I’ve heard you have experience in this field. Two words: Owen Wilson.

    2. Question for John: I heard you dislike Tim Burton…why? I’ve never seen a bad Burton movie. Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scisorhands, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks, Sleepy Hollow- all excellent. Why the hate?

  33. Kristina says:

Mkfreak2, we are kindred spirits. I LOVE Burton.

  34. Steven C says:

John, did you see anything at Comic Con about the future of Star Wars?

  35. Jeff says:

So I went to Wal-Mart today to pick up the special 2 disc edition of Hot Fuzz that was talked about by Edgar Wright and Nick Frost at Comicon…and low and behold, the only have a 1 disc edition, with some special features, but lacking the Nick Frost commentary track….what were those boys smoking when they told the panel that story??

  36. brian says:

    hey there john,

How far can movie promotion stretch the critics comments. What I mean by this if a critic says a film is ‘amazingly poor’ could a film advertise that a critic said the film was ‘amazing’.

    thanks

    Brian

  37. jordan barrie says:
