Anthony Michael Hall joins Batman Dark Knight
Anthony Michael Hall will always remain that steadfast anchor to the 80s for me no matter what he does next. I rank him higher than the Coreys. To see that he is announced to be a part of the upcoming Batman Begins: THe Dark Knight film is really cool news, but the cooler part is that he is respecting the medium and not spilling ANYTHING.
“Dead Zone” star Anthony Michael Hall reports the plot of the latest Batman saga, “The Dark Knight,” is so secret he’s forbidden to even say what character he’s portraying.“I signed a confidentiality agreement, and I can’t say which part I’m playing because it affects the story,” says Hall. “I can’t give away the suspense — it’s a $200 million surprise, and I don’t want to be the guy to ruin it.”
Contract or no contract, sometimes stars do spill bits. Usually not intentional. Interviewers are often crafty in how they ask questions in hopes of getting them to trip over the list of “do not tell” information in their head.
But Hall is keeping his yap closed. Good for him. As much as I would like to know these little insider bits, I secretly crave NOT to know them.
We expected to wait MUCH longer before seeing the Joker revealed, but they tossed it out this weekend, well ahead of the fans expectations. Could it be that Hall’s character is something even MORE of a secret that they were hoping that dropping the Joker on us would divert attention away from the announcement of Hall’s involvement?
Oh how the speculation machine fuels itself!

Rodney…! As much as I dig Anthony Michael Hall’s membership of the 80’s ‘Brat Pack’, you could have at least put up a pic of him from ‘The Dead Zone”, which he has been for the past number of years…and has done some of his best work ever.
As to what his role in ‘Dark Knight’ is, that’s a darn good question. Hall has his show, which has a different shooting schedule, so they might have to work around the show.
Here’s the five possibilities:
1) The far fetched guess= In Begins, Ducard is revealed to be Ras Al Ghul. In Knight, It is discovered that Heath Ledger is a copycat Joker, and then the real Joker steps up…played by Hall. I know, my bad. The same gag wouldn’t be done twice. Or
2) As Batman rounds up the remainder of Arkham escapees, he has the face the Rat Catcher in the opening scenes. Or the Riddler. Or
3) Hall is a rival of Wayne Enterprises. Or
4) Major campaign contributor to the election of Harvey Dent.
5) Wrong film. It’s only a rumor. Truth is, Hall is The Hal Jordan Green Lantern. Okay, maybe not.
Well…I tried.
I deliberately put up old school Hall there.
Im well aware of his current contributions, but in my heart there is only one Hall, and he is still 17.
I like your suggestions as to his character, however, I wonder if it is one of the more significant roles you suggested or bigger since he said revealing the character he plays would be a spoiler in itself.
That leads me to think there will be a bigger implication to the character than simply a cameo. Maybe its a bigger issue for a future movie. Maybe he will be a circus performing Flying Grayson (senior).
Oh yes. I said it.
I hear the can opener on those worms.
let’s just pray he’s not a third villain b/c we all saw how well 3 villains turned out in spidey
Whol, we also saw how how well *four* villains turned out in Batman Begins.
Or five, if you count Ras twice.
(The others are Falcone, Scarecrow and the Zszaz appearance)
What Darren said. Hall has done a great job with The Dead Zone and erased any of his 80s work. He deserves to have a more recent picture displayed.
Riddle me this, Riddle me that, who will Hall play opposite the big black bat……..
I wonder….I do
would i be going out on a limb to say that he might be a good . two face. hmmmm. maybe he is signed on for 2 moves and he will be the next villian.

Ajax, you are implying that his work in the 80s has no merit?
And Virgilfiori, you do realize that Two Face (or rather a pre-twoface Harvey Dent) is already being played by Aaron Eckhart. I would imagine that in a future movie Eckhart would continue to play Dent as he becomes Twoface.
I’ve been hearing Jean-Paul Valley… aka Azrael.
Kneon, that was the first thing I thought when I read AMH was cast in the movie: AZRAEL! He’s perfect for the role!
If thats his picture right now then disregard the statement I am about to say.
Maybe he is setting up for Dick Grayson, Robin. Although it may seem a bit to soon. I didnt read all the comments so if I’m missing something sorry.
I think they’ve made it pretty clear that there will be NO Robin in this series. So that rules that out. And he’s certainly not going to be Two-Face (Harvey Dent is). Maybe he’s the Riddler? I have no idea…but from what he said, it sounds pretty big.
Bruce Wayne= Batman= Matches Malone
Batman needs all the help he can get! Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon are important, but Batman needs an in, a new identity in his war on crime.
So I believe Hall will play Matches Malone. Even after his death, Hall could still play the character for Bale instead of putting makeup on Bale everytime Malone comes up. Malone would add even more complexity to the franchise which is great for story telling!
Hell, Bruce could work for the Joker under the alias of Malone without the Joker even knowing who he is.
Ethan, that was his picture when he was 17. He is MUCH older now.
If anything I suggested he might be one of the Flying Graysons, like Dick’s dad or something.
They are pumping up this role to be something impacting. As neat as Azreal was in the Batman Knightfall series, he really didnt amount to much of anything at all after that.
I personally would be disappointed to see Azreal in any of these movies. He was a bit part in the big picture.
Salem – “I think they’ve made it pretty clear that there will be NO Robin in this series. So that rules that out”
Nolan said he would not touch on Robin (admittedly because at this point in BEGINS history Robin would be an infant AND his opposition to the character) and he only wrote the screenplay
Should someone other than Nolan direct this, or if Nolan steps down from writing, they will have the say in who or what happens in the movies. Nolan is just the director and co-writer, and though he may have sway, he isn’t the absolute over this story.
I honestly wouldnt see Robin for at least 3 more movies if at all. Nolan’s opinion on the topic might carry a lot of weight, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
I images googled him and he does NOT seem like the Robin type. I agree with Rodeny, possibley a Grayson senior. Although if Robin were to enter the Batman movies it might be a clash.
I meen you have this one tough dude who dresse up as a black bat and knows kung fu whatever, then you have this kid who dresses up in bright red and orange, wears short shorts and knows gymnastics. Sounds a little uneven right?
Sorry *LOL* I just had to say something that would make Robin sound like a fag. But I do like him in the comics (provided he covers his pale legs)
He’s ROBIN… i called it.
Ramsey, Robin would be an infant in the current timeline of the Begins movies. Sorry, I don’t see that happening.
Ethan, the stereotypical Robin you mention hasn’t been present in nearly two decades. In the late 80s Tim Drake became the third Robin, and aside from acrobatic superiority he has a keen detective mind and a mastery of martial arts.
Probably…clay face? JK! Who knows. It wont be anyone like Azrael because the common person doesn’t know who that is and only nerds do!
