I know they said that people in Los Angeles practically worship celebrities… but this is bloody ridiculous! I took this picture yesterday when we were on our way someplace. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Yes folks… welcome to Chevy Chase Baptist Church. All praise and honor be unto Chevy the merciful!!!!

Chevy-Chase-Church-2

As a side note, I should mention this church was located on Chevy Chase Blvd.

Worshipping Chevy Chase? I could think of worse things… Nice find.

  2. You are kidding, right? You do know that there is a town in Maryland named Chevy Chase. In fact it was founded 25 years before Cornelius Crane Chase was born. I have a feeling that there might be more of a connection to the town in Maryland more than the guy from SNL, Fletch, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the actor/comedian is hilarious and I love his movies, I just don’t think he is THAT good!

As we can’t empirically disprove that Chevy Chase created the universe I suggest we all start believing he is some sort of supreme being.

I’m just not naive enough to be a Chevy Chase-atheist ;)

    Ah Chevy,

    I do miss you so…

Why do you think somewhere in the early ninties Chevy Chase just stopped being funny?
Was it something in the water or was it jusy age.
Do people just not want to see a 50 year old doing pratfalls.
And since Chevy never really went the dramatic route, did he just stop being relevant?

He was in some all-time classics…
    Fletch
    Modern Problems
The Vacation series (minus the Vegas one)
    Caddyshack
    Spies Like Us
    Three Amigos
Funny Farm (hey, I liked it)
hell even Under The Rainbow was good.

What the hell happened to him…?

    LOL, classic.

I’m sure the sermons there are equally as dry and humorless.

From wikipedia: “Chase was named for his adoptive grandfather Cornelius, who lived at Castle Hill, Ipswich, Massachusetts. Castle Hill, which was later used in the filming of The Witches of Eastwick. The name “Chevy” was a nickname bestowed by his grandmother. As a descendant of the Scottish Clan Douglas, who repelled an English invasion at the Battle of Cheviot Hills (”Chevy Chase”)”

Not sure if Hollywood stuff went for the history, or the man
