Indiana Jones News – Its a Boy!

The rumours were all over the net and even I commented on it here. Spielberg’s golden child Shia LaBeouf was being considered to be the son of Indiana Jones in Indy4.

JoBlo scooped:

The rumors were true: Shia LeBeouf will star as the son of Indiana Jones in the long-awaited INDIANA JONES 4. LeBeouf, who apparently wowed director Steven Spielberg with his work on TRANSFORMERS, is in “final talks” to star in the film. Neither Paramount nor Lucasfilm would confirm negotiations with LeBeouf so any more information beyond this is only speculation. Rumors have held though that Indy finds he has a son through Marion Jones (of RAIDERS fame) and if Shia is playing close to his actual age, INDY 4 would take place in the early 1950s.

I am actually glad to hear this since a lot of rumours lately seemed to suggest it was a daughter. I automatically assumed it wouldn’t be Portman who played her.

The math is done, and this pulls Indy4 well out of the 40s which makes a lot of sense considering his age difference, and the fact that they are writing in a 15 year old son.

I don’t know if I really want a “passing of the torch” sort of thing. I am more than happy to see Indiana Jones start and finish with 3 movies. Well now a fourth. Maybe after I see Shia in action, a next generation treasure hunter wont be such a bad idea for a new franchise.

Maybe it will.

  1. And you have had dinner with this guy? Hung out with him? No.

He acts and talks like a 16 year old because he has a younger look and despite being 21, he still tends to play kids on tv.

You do realize that child actors can grow out of their child roles?
You base everything you know about him on the characters he plays on Disney and Nick Jr. No wonder your opinion is tainted.

  2. He’s exactly my age, but he acts and talks like my 16 year old sister, so forgive me for calling him a kid. He’s sucked in EVERYTHING I’ve seen him in, even in that Dinsey channel movie where he played a retard. Why should I believe this will be any different?

  3. “Shia is still the little dweeb on Nick’s “Even Stevens” in my mind.”

Yeah, and Will Smith is still the Fresh Prince. Christopher Reeve was nothing but a soap actor. John Travolta is still just Vinnie Barbarino. And Leonardo DiCaprio is just that homeless kid on Growing Pains.

People can change. People grow up. People learn.

Never judge an actor on the role they USED to play when they started. You want to discard a movie because you dont like who a person USED to play on tv, then it is your loss.

  4. A new Indiana Jones? A GREAT idea. Shia LeBouf as anything other than an extra? TERRIBLE idea. I don’t know what incriminating photos this punk has of Hollywood’s rich and powerful but the need to stand up to him and put him back with the other talentless extras.

Shia LEBouf (what the F**K kind of name is that?) is not a leading man, he’s barely an extra.

  5. This could work, although I’d rather see an older son played by Brandon Fraser, although the “Mummy” thing probably wouldn’t sit well with Lucas, or vice versa. Shia just doesn’t grab me as a “Jones” kid. Hopefully he can pull it off though.

  6. Hey I want Harrison to continue to play Indy as much as the next guy. I just don’t like the idea that it takes place in the 1950’s.

  7. You all do realize that “passing the torch” doesnt mean this movie will have a kid playing Indiana?

Shia is slated to play his son. This could have spinoff potential, but Shia is not playing INDY.

  8. I still wish that if they continue the series after this movie that they get another actor to play Indy and keep it set in the 30’s. Too me, their is nothing else that says ‘adventure’ like the 1930’s.
