Wow… holy crap. Dan just sent me these videos of Lilly Tomlin and I Heart Huckabees director David O. Russell screaming at each other and almost breaking into a fist fight on set of the film. The second one is pretty damn intense. How can professional people getting paid so much act like this? Personally I blame Tomlin a little more. When you’re on the set, the director is in charge. If you’re an actor, do as your told, give your input when asked for it… otherwise shut the hell up and do your job that you’re being over paid for.

I have lost a TON of respect for these individuals. I know it can be frustrating when two people fail to communicate, but this is out of control.

I wonder how often this sort of thing actually happens.

Just finish the movie the way the director wants. If it sucks, you can blame him after. Why anyone would want to work with these two again is beyond me.

Oh yeah. Money. I would roadtrip with the two of them going at it the whole time for a couple hundred thousand.

Wow! I’m appalled. Lilly Tomlin should lighten up and act professionally. Understandbly, the director should be angry but he should try to exercise some restraint. Some actors are being pamper too much and think they are the center of the world.

BTW, anyone heard the story of Bruce Willis pulling a hissy fit on the set of Die Hard from a “no big deal” injury on the set?

Wow, that was ridiculous. I suppose we need to know more of a backstory before we can make judgments, but yes, I believe the final say should nearly always be the directors…

Then again, I suppose I’m a hypocrite, because I side with Edward Norton on his feud with director Tony Kaye over American History X…

I don’t know, after reading about David O. Russell’s past experiences on set, I’d tend to think that Tomlin was maybe pushed to the edge.

George Clooney ended up in a physical fight with Russell on the set of Three Kings after constantly coming to the defence of extras and crew members he felt Russell was mistreating.

There’s also talk of actors not taking well to his shooting style, as he tends to make things up as he goes. That would require alot of trust on the part of the actors. It’s not as easy as just doing what he says and hoping it turns out, because if you look like an idiot on screen people will most likely blame your acting and not the direction.

Jay C beat me to the punch on the Clooney thing, and you don’t hear about him being a prick to just anybody. Word is, he’s as nice as they come, so if HE snaps, I’m more inclined to believe the guy had it coming.

The videos are probably on deltube.com (it’s a place where youtube videos are stored after they’re deleted). But, the problem is that the servers are crawling because the site was mentioned on Digg.com. A quote from the deltube site is “Digg is raping our servers.”

Well aside from that, if the actor(s) weren’t so highly paid and given a state of “glory” tp, do you think that possibly there would be better consideration in contracts for producers, directors etc when it comes to the films in question.

I say fire the actors agents. They are paid to prescreen not only the script, but who they are going to be working with.

Maybe Lily had it up to here with this director? You see we didn’t see the whole thing come down so all we can do is speculate. I bet Marky Mark knows what went down on that set.

Russel has had a very bad rep in Hollywood. George Clooney refuses to ever speak to him again since Three Kings.

Apparently Russel was treating some of the crew like complete shit and Clooney came to the crews’ defense, which may or may not have led to an actual fist-fight.

Either way, Cloony has said publicly he will never deal with Russel ever again. He even refuses to be in the same room as him.

That’s just one of the stories I’ve heard about Russel. There’s many more apparently.

His troubles on the set of Huckabees has been reported many times before, but I don’t think anyone’s ever posted video of it.
