The Reaping Starring Hilary Swank Rescheduled To April

reaping.jpgThe Reaping is a horror/sci-fi/thriller movie starring Hilary Swank, and it’s release date has been postponed until April of this year. The folks over at horrormovies.ca gives us this on the move:

According to MoviesOnline The Reaping has once again been bumped. Initially it was supposed to come out in November of 2006, then March and now its pushed back to April. I wonder what’s going on? The source at MoviesOnline was WarnerBrothers but no reason for the bump was given.

The actual film has to do with a small town that enlists the help of a missionary who specializes in solving religious phenomena. The village slowly begins to fall victim to the 10 plagues and she must discover what is going on before it is too late

This film looks alright, pretty scary actually. Have studios just lost their balls? Or is there something terribly wrong with February and March for film releases?

Since this is the second time this movie has been moved back one can assume The Reaping will not be very good, too bad because as far as thrillers with slight biblical themes go this one actually looks pretty good from the trailer.

You can see the trailer here.

Tell me your thoughts on why so many movies are being postponed.

  1. I was liking it until the end, damn, I know it’s a fucking trailer, but that was some shitty acting and the dumbest lines I have ever heard. Someone jam a pen in my ear and scribble out the pain!!!

Shitty actress: Are you here to kill my baby.

Swank: *Petrud buck teeth, pause and spew* No!

    Shitty actress: Why not?

Come on, I love Hilary Swank, she’s great most of the time! But what the hell did I just see here? First impression is it goes nowhere and will throw in a plot twist to a plot that doesn’t even exist. Ugh, and to think I used to jerk off to Karate Kid Part III. This is a film that the trailer more than likely mind fucks you into thinking its a completly differnt film then what it turns out to be; the little girl may skew the story in bullshit, and thats why I fear we will be presented with nonsensical plot twists.

    “I’ll wait for video” :)

While I strongly disagree with Sharon’s huge leap of logic, I will say this: when the studios announce dates, they should stick to those dates as much as possible. The film itself might not always be terrible. But if people get interested and connot “find” the film or “know” when it opens…it may open against the newer, and more hyped film that the same demographic might like to see.

That’s when folks say the dreaded phrase “I’ll wait for video”.
