Paula Abdul in Bratz

Bratz is among that new breed of children’s animated shows that teach our preteen kids to dress like harlots. Oh sure, in my generation we had Jem, and she was truely outrageous. Truely, truely truely outrageous. But no one dared actually DRESS that way leaving the house. Now just in case people think these Bratz styles are just for the animated preteens on the show, its creators are going ahead with a live action feature.

MovieWeb says:

Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, announced today that “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul has joined the creative team of Bratz: The Movie, the first live action feature based on Bratz, the highly popular brand of fashion dolls manufactured by leading consumer entertainment products company MGA Entertainment. Crystal Sky Pictures is financing the live action feature film, directed by Sean McNamara (“Raise Your Voice”)

Bratz advertises itself as “BRATZ follows four teenage girls who are from socially and economically diverse backgrounds. What they have in common is their wish to be themselves and realize their dreams and aspirations.”

Ironic that you have to wear trendy clothes, listen to the right music, and be just like everyone else so that you can be YOURSELF! These shows attempt to give a candy coating to the self esteem lessons kids should learn early on. In the mean time the overall reality is that if you dont dress like these cartoon girls, you just are not cool. See.. they are being individuals and expressing themselves! Now be just like them!

But with Paula Abdul STARRING in this movie about preteen girls discovering their identities and expressing themselves, I can only see her in a role as a teacher or dance instructor. As a professional choreographer, Abdul should have no problem playing that part.

I think I liked this movie better when it was done in the 80s as Kid’s Incorporated!

God…..please god…….dont let this Bratz movie thing happen….

The dolls are whorish-looking. Barbie (although physically too “perfect”) is a mental role model.

  3. Jay says:

As if Britney and Paris arent training a generation of girls to dress and act like whores, we always have the Bratz line to pick up the few that they couldnt get to.

Thank you Bratz, and thank God I have a son.

I love Bratz and think that they are way better than Barbie, and I collect them. They dont have the ideal body thing going like barbie. The new Barbies(scene or whatever) are the ones that look like whores, Brats are classy and sophisticated looking dolls and I love them!
