Lost Boys 2

The Lost Boys is one of those all time classics to me. Before the modern big rage of Vampire films and TV shows began, there was Kiefer Sutherland as the coolest damn vampire to ever hit the screen in The Lost Boys. To this day, my favorite all time vampire film. I mean come on… how can you not love a flick with Corey Haim and Corey Feldman??? And holy crap how hot was Jami Gertz in that flick!
But The Lost Boys was finished. There was no open door for a sequel. The story was perfectly told, and if you saw the movie, you know it was concluded. There wasn’t ever any… nor should there have been any, follow up films. Well, it looks like there’s going to be another one now with news of a Direct To DVD sequel: Lost Boys 2. The good folks over at IESB give us this:
While very little is known about the plot or about who will be directing or even who has been cast in the film, we know the story will revolve around surfing vampires in Southern California. Yes, you read that right, surfing vampires. The rumors regarding a sequel have been floating around since the late 80’s and even Joel Schumacher was pitching a sequel idea during the 90’s but to no avail. At one time there was talk of remaking the film and calling it The Lost Girls. It had also been said that executive producer Richard Donner talked about doing a sequel that would show Edgar and Alan Frog A.K.A. The Frog brothers (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander in the original film) starting a vampire hunting business that would take them to Washington D.C. Well, looks like those plans didn’t work out but instead we will have surfing vampires hanging 10. Gnarly!
This is just another example of pointlessly called a movie “2″ when it really has nothing to do with the first film whatsoever… or at the most has a very thin thread connecting the two story lines. Make no mistake about it international friends… this movie, no matter what they call it, is NOT Lost Boys 2. And to me, there never will be. Why the hell not just call it “Pinocchio 2″? SURFING VAMPIRES????

Noooooooooo!!!
The Lost Boys is one of my top 5 favorite ’80s movies. This is a disaster in the making! :(
If anybody saw 24 last night, Kiefer pulled a Lost Boys at the end of the episode. I died laughing.
WHY?! For years they have been talking about making a sequel…and now they want to make a direct to DVD piece of crap sequel? This is my all time favourite vampire movie (tied with Fright Night) and I really don’t want to see it ruined….
I could see a “Lost Boys 2″ being done: just not as…uh…this. Now, if a new group of vamps targeted a surfer beach…okay. But …
Why would a Lost Boy vampire need a surfboard? They fly!
…and at least get someone back from the original (I’d like to see a Jason Patric/Jami Gertz reunion myself) …
The Lost Girls? WTF? Why not just Lost Boys 2. For that matter, why make it at all?
The title of this post should be “Hollywood has Officially Run Out of Ideas.”
Once I read direct to DVD and Surfing Vampires, I knew this is just a fucked idea! Blasphy, thats what it is.
I think the ‘Lost Girls’ idea is better, so why not call this Point Break 2 instead.
i have already dismissed this. if this ever comes to fruition, this will never be a sequel in my eyes. mind over matter.
im all for a lost boys 2 but, this sequel idea doesn’t sound good.a direct to dvd sequel to a ver popular classic movie “the lost boys”.this movie is so popular to people i don’t know what WB is thinking.no original cast members, and possibly not the same atmosphere as the first one.whoaaaaaaa what the heck is up with this.
I think if they make a part 2 they need to have some of the old cast members in it such as the 2 corey’s and Michael the star. They can’t make it without the main stars….. I wish kiefer could be in it but he was killed unless they make up a good ass story of how he came back to live……..I think part 2 would be good only if they use the same people…..
i think it was horrible. it was the old movie set in a more modern time. i mean, it followed the exact same story line. i dunno maybe i’m nuts but i don’t think there was much thought put into it. i dunno why they had plenty of time.
